In past years, we've enjoyed a delicious, almost sweet breaded cod fish fry here. Something changed in 2024. This is the second time this summer that we came for breaded cod and they were out. Seriously?! We were there at 6:00pm Friday night. Instead, I ordered the breaded walleye, and my husband ordered the perch. My walleye was very thin, overcooked, and tasteless. My husband ordered perch, but it wasn't perch. It wasn't shaped like perch, it didn't taste like perch, we paid for perch, but got something else, it was overcooked and very dry. It was also a small portion, 3 fillets, more like a child's portion. The baked potato and coleslaw were good.
This is the second time this summer our food was brought to the table, and we didn't have any silverware. We waited several minutes, while our food was getting cold, waiting for silverware. At the time I placed the order I asked for extra sour cream and melted butter. The server forgot both.
We chose to sit outside to enjoy the view of the Wisconsin River. The glass table was very dirty. It surely hadn't been washed in at least a couple of days. I used a few paper napkins to wipe down our table top, and the napkins were black with dirt. Yes, the tables are outside and will get pollen, etc. on them, but this table hadn't been cleaned in days. Shouldn't it at least be wiped down when they open for the day and between guests? Another turn off to customers, is the outdoor paved area where the bar and about 5 tables are, is full of leaves, pine needles, etc. Again, I understand it was outdoor dining, but use a blower and clean the patio area where you're serving food before you open for the day. If you can't keep this area presentable where guests can see it, what is the kitchen and bar like?

Read moreOrder Jameson on the rocks, they charged $7.28 for the shot and another $7.28 for the rocks (the receipt specifically says ROCKS not a double shot which it wasn't anyway). Questioned the waitress and she shrugged her shoulders and said that is correct. $14.56 for any drink is ridiculous. Then we got our 8oz grilled chicken dinners, the chicken breast was less than 1/4" thick and no way more than 4 oz (it wouldn't have filled a cheap hamburger bun!) $4 to substitute a salad for the french fries and the icing on the cake was calling as we were driving away and asking to talk to the owner; was told they were far too busy, there was one table and two people at the bar when we left. (this was an actual person NOT a recording!) The new ownership is not going to last long if they continue ripping people off and hiding from confrontation. $95 (3 people) for the worst meal I have ever had, definitely won't be back (The last thing I want is a gift card to come back here; I'll take the loss and...
Read moreThis was our 2nd visit to give it a second chance from last year. Unfortunately it was even worse. 1230 pm with 3 tables in front of us ordering. 2 outside and 1 inside. We sat inside also. After an hour we were told 10 more minutes. After 20 mins we started asking about our food. Another 10 mins and we actually had to leave so we started packing up and preparing to pay for the drinks. That's when the food came out. The table inside before us still didn't get their food. Rubens were small and more lunch meat tasting. The 8 piece $3 onion rings were cold. Crispy chicken wrap was all lettuce with a couple bites of chicken. No sauce. The burgers were just mediocre. They had no spotted cow or blue moon beer. No Mac and cheese of any kind for any dish.
This place needs to cut its menu in half and no outside service if staff is the issue. But with only 4 tables even a decent cook can get hot food out faster the 90 mins.
Stop for drinks, but not if...
