McNaughton Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Newbold

Recently, I went for dinner. I had NY Strip, and it was pretty good. I was pretty full and couldn't complete my meal. Didn't care for the screaming kids running around. Sometimes, it's nice to have a nice quiet time to talk and eat.

Previous review 9 months prior...First time here. The staff was super friendly. All smiles, humor, and great service. I particularly liked that no female waitresses were trying to flirt with my husband. .lol. The food was rather good. They had several seafood specials like halibut and crab legs, but we are more of steak and burgers. Hubby had the chipotle burger, and really liked the sauce, and I had the porterhouse. Could have used a tad more seasoning. The bathrooms were reasonably clean, but there is a musty smell, but after a few minutes, you don't notice it. We went around 5, and it wasn't busy, but by the time we left...

I think this place just opened. There seemed to be a bit of confusion as to what was going on. The good thing is it was very clean and lit up unlike a lot of "bar" restaurants. Don't go if you are in a hurry, showed up around 5:30 with 3 in our group. Asked for nachos got told they didn't have them (I blame supply chain) ended up getting a bacon burger for my wife, another burger for my son, and spaghetti (said it was their signature recipe) took almost two hours to finally get it delivered to the table. Once it arrived the food was ok, nothing to write home about though. We made a reservation and when we got there they acted as we had no reservation. But, still we got seated. The food is really pretty good but they are always out of their specialty- Halibut McNaughton. This happened for the second time tonight! Our reservation was for 6:30, made in advance, and we only go there mainly so my wife can have it. If they know how many reservations they have, they should not run out of their special. The acoustics are horrible and they should do something to help with that. Also, it’s just a big open room and needs some booths or something to give it a better atmosphere! ...
