South glens falls School district choose to have us send our child to vanderhayden He was acting like the class clown in sixth grade and it continue on through school in South glens falls School district.so they decided to send my son to this place where my son attended two days of school and was threatened and witnessed a group of kids punch another student in the face who had a mouth full of braces and was his first day as well and all my child was doing was trying to make friends. I feel that these school are meant for children that have major problems and disabilities My childs actions don't even add up to half of the things I see and hear about some of the others actions that attend there .. like I stated he just acted like the class clown .. what 12 year old doesn't act out.. and then I get told by South glens falls district that my 12 -year-old son is not entitled to go back to public school because they paid for a grant for him to go to vanderhayden paid Grant or not I firmly believe that myself as a parent I have the right to decide where my child gets educated I don't agree with the rules of the school or of vanderhayden

I feel that I should be able to do what is in the best interest of my disabled child I also feel that South glens falls School district is overlooking other alternatives...

As a former resident from about 13-14 years ago, I must admit at first it was a scary experience but one of my best memories. The staff and other residents were great besides maybe 2 residents. As a member of the LGBT I still felt safe without judgement. It’s a beautiful place to be able to grow mentally without the exhaustion of family peering over you. Yeah, it sucks to be away from family and you’ll miss them but it helped me grow from being totally anti social because I felt comfortable with all the people I seen everyday. I don’t understand the hateful reviews because I never went through it and it was during a time when it should’ve been worse than now. Because, LGBT didn’t have the rights they do now. I also lost A LOT of weight when I was in there compared to my friends because they were putting on weight while I was losing it. Also, for it being gross food is a lie they use to have some fire breakfast there (for the person talking trash about the food). They also spoiled me for my birthday making my favorite cake (icecream cake) and another staff member making my favorite cookie into a cake. It’s a give and take relationship with the staff and the residents you treat them with respect they’ll give it back and when you don’t? They aren’t nice which is how it should be until you apologize and...

You want to really know about this school? I’m a kid and I’ve been a student there for about 5 years now and it literally just gets worse as the years go, the kids literally fight at least twice a week and there’s a huge problem with bullying too, some kids get suspended for flipping a desk and some do the same and don’t get any consequences, 3 students I know have literally gotten laced, were foaming out the mouth and almost died, kids always sneak some kind of contraband in and everyone is a bad influence to each other It’s a toxic environment if you ask me, and I’m not making any of this up, it’s bad, so many people scream in the hallway it literally sounds like someone is shooting up the school, the screaming happens so much it’s just normalized now, the staff are rude and only a few are actually good and nice to the kids and get along with them, And I don’t recommend working here unless you want to have a chance if a chair being thrown at your head. This school is not sunshine and rainbows, yes you get to do fun stuff from time to time but this school, in my opinion is a nightmare.
