My family has been long time customers and after the treatment, attitude and utmost disrespect we received last night simply for having a large party will prevent us from ever coming back.
I attempted to contact them late Friday morning to let them know a group of 13 would be in around 5:00PM (this was for my son's graduation dinner!) but every time they answered and I'd start saying about a large group, the call was miraculously dropped. I have witnesses to this. When we arrived, I let her know we will be a large group and that I attempted to call this morning and apologized for whatever happened with the phone calls to which (I believe was the owners wife) I was told that maybe I should get my phone fixed so I can call next time... Brushed off the slightly rude comment. We went and got seated, ordered drinks and appetizers and then our meals. Part of our group didn't even receive their drinks but certainly were charged for them.
We received our appetizers and listened to the owners wife turn other people out the door and shut their signs off 45 minutes early "because they had a large party that didn't call in" and she continued to make remarks about us for well over an hour. Part of our group received their food after about an hour of waiting while the other group had to wait longer. My son didn't even receive his food before he had to leave for his graduation. When my son had to leave, I went to the front counter and requested togo boxes for our food and to pack the remainder of the orders that haven't been received into Togo boxes as we needed to get going so we weren't late for my son's graduation to which we got told if we would have called in we wouldn't be waiting so long for our food, my son told her they should get their phone checked. At this point the owners wife wanted to argue with my 18yo son. I raised my voice and stated "there was a mishaps with a phone, whether mine or yours, it doesn't matter but there is no need for all these rude comments to your customers! Can we please get Togo boxes we need to leave, ma'am!". We walked back to our tables, I sent my son on his way so he wasn't late. Owners wife brings us Togo boxes but continues to make comments to where the entire group was now upset and annoyed and most of them now angry. I said this needs to stop just give us our Togo boxes and food and let us get out of here!" The owners wife continued to say things and kept holding onto the Togo boxes. I attempted to grab them to pass them out as we didn't have time for this nonsense, we just wanted to leave to make it to my son's graduation! The owners wife pulled the Togo boxes back and started yelling "you're in camera!!" I said "I don't care, just give us our Togo boxes, let us leave and post it all over the internet because you're the one making a fool of yourself."
We finally got our Togo boxes to pack up our food and received the remainder of orders in Togo boxes so we could leave.
I ran a bar and grill and never in my life would I imagine being disrespectful to paying customers whom I rely on for tips, simply for their group size. The people in my group listened to me brag about their food, service and etc and one group traveled about an hour and the other well over an hour to come there. The experience for them was horrendous and I even apologized to them for bringing them there and this is what it turned into. The waitress didn't receive a single tip from our group and I NEVER do that! I am heartbroken at the experience and that one of my favorite little places is no longer our family favorite. I hope that whatever that lady had going on, gets better and no one else has to experience this and I'm sorry for the people that got turned away "due to our large group".
Edit to add: There are many flaws to what you have stated but that's ok. Thank you for the detailed breakdown of everything you believe occured, unfortunately I believe you should get sound on your cameras as there clearly isn't any or you'd know exactly what was said and when and by who....

In the short time my family and I have known her, we have come to appreciate the sincere/genuine hospitality that Dawn(and the entire staff) displays. We feel at home at the Rail Trail! Read moreWhat a great place to eat! The prices are a little higher than what you normally pay but the food and the service WELL makes up for it. It was absolutely packed when I came through but the owner still had the time to get me the coffee and stir up some conversation. Once I got seated, the locals would stop and chat. This is what they do in small towns and, for me, it was better than sitting alone in a crowd looking at my OK cup of coffee. the food came and it was the best. The local specials are OK but I had the blueberry pancakes with the berries picked locally. You can NEVER go wrong with this plus the food came earlier than expected. Overall, it was a good experience and I recommend people stopping to see the fall colors to stop...
