Velasko Pizzeria & Deli — Restaurant in Town of Onondaga

Co-worker and I ordered on slice at 530 for a 7 pm delivery to work so we could eat on our break. 730 I call and ask where our delivery is, the female who answered said the delivery person left with several orders and it would be here soon. My co worker calls at 755 ish again asking where the food is, the female on the phone is rude and gives the phone to the delivery driver who says he was here and there are 5 doors and no doorbells and he left(we have been ordering from here for 25 years). I sat in the lobby while waiting on my break and there were no cars that even drove by on our road let alone came thru our gate. He then says its 8 o'clock and we are closed and hangs up !!! So that leaves myself and my co-worker on a 12 hr shift with no food and no break time to go and get any. I have been a regular at Velasko deli for 25 years and am there frequently. I can honestly say I have never been treated like that by any restaurant and won't be returning any time soon and will make sure my co-workers are aware so they to can take their...

Have been a loyal customer for almost 5 years but the quality has really gone down in the last year.

Some staff can be very rude. They seem too busy talking when you come in to order and they often look annoyed when you order. I totally understand being busy but glancing at me then continuing a conversation without saying anything to me while I stand waiting to order time and time again is off putting.

Sometimes can be hard to get through by phone, will get a busy tone or put right on hold for a while without saying anything.

Food quality has really gone down hill I used to love to get slices especially the chicken wing because it was fresh and tasty. Now it’s usually burnt and tastes old and stale. Most times now the pizza has been sitting in the warmer for hours and is hard, greasy and gross. The crust is harder than a rock and burnt and makes you feel gross after eating.

The poutine had very little cheese and had a very watery gravy last time I ordered, hopefully not the new normal bc the poutine was super good...

Wow! What happened to this place?! I know the owner changed but unfortunately so did the food and service. I use to love their food and especially their soups. I ordered 3 items (pizza, buffalo chicken sandwich and beef barley soup). The sandwich was not made by time I got there so I just cnxed it. The pizza was mediocre at best but the most disappointing was the soup. For me the beef barley is what brought me in. The soup wasn’t bad; it was horrible. The soup didn’t have the vegetables that it once had (no zucchini). The beef was substandard and there was absolutely no taste. To make it worse, the bowl size was in a smaller container and not full at all. I know all places are cutting corners to make ends meet but this has been a drastic bad change. I would have written to the deli privately but I didn’t see an email on your website. I don’t wish this place to go under (the hill needs places) but the food has changed for the worse.
