We stopped here when we realized that, due our previous delay, our usual haunt further north would be closed when we arrived. I have driven by this place many times and noted how easy it was to get off and back on I81, and you can get gas too, but never needed to. The place was nice inside, with a wooden open ceiling, with exposed duct work that was nicely painted and clean (I was surprised at the lack of dust). There was a faint chemical smell in the air, but it was 9 PM, and I could tell that they were cleaning something in the kitchen. I got a bit nervous, when the customer seated behind me started to complain to the waitress. The waitress did everything she could to politely satisfy that customer. It didn't really work, but it should have. She did a great job. We ordered. The coffee was decent diner coffee. The food however, was amazing. My burger was cooked perfectly. Juicy and messy deliciousness that required a few napkins. (I ordered the one with onion rings and BBQ sauce). The food was pretty fast too, considering there were a couple of to go orders ahead of mine. My wife took half of her corned beef hash home, and ate it for breakfast the next morning. We could not finish the order of fries that we shared, even though they were perfectly cooked, it was just a huge order. I actually can't wait to stop again and try something else. Then I got the bill...and was shocked at how LOW it was...I paid less here for our dinner than I did at the golden arches for lunch that day. So yeah, 5...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Grist Mill Restaurant in Parish, NY. I was on my way to Thousand Islands and was looking for a place to stop for breakfast with a charging station. I was not disappointed!
The pancakes were absolutely delicious. They were light and fluffy, and the maple syrup was perfectly sweet. I also had the bacon, which was cooked perfectly. The service was also top notch. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
I was also impressed by the fact that Grist Mill Restaurant has a Tesla supercharger behind the restaurant. This is perfect for anyone who is driving an electric car and needs to charge up on their way to Thousand Islands. The supercharger has the new adapter for non Tesla vehicles too, so even if you don't have a Tesla, you can still charge your car here.
Overall, I had a great experience at Grist Mill Restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the Tesla supercharger is a great perk. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good breakfast or lunch in the Parish area.
Here are some of the pros and cons of Grist Mill Restaurant:

Read moreIWe sat down and a waitress came right over to bring us menus and take our drink order. Then she never came back. We watched her bring drinks to customers who sat down after us. Finally, after about 15 minutes, another waitress brought us drinks and took our food order. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Two tables seated after us and were served before we were. I ordered a burger without a bun and a side of green beans. The waitress asked if I wanted the chips, and I said yes. After a long wait, the waitress dumped our food and ran away. I was served a naked burger and a pickle on a big plate. The green beans were served on the side and were mushy, tasteless and cold. they cost $2.79 and measured about 1/2 cup. I have been served better beans in the school cafeteria. The waitress returned after a few minutes to check on us, I politely asked for the chips that were in the menu description and for some ketchup. The chips and the pickle were very good. We had stopped off the highway for what we hoped would be a quick bite. Dinner took well over an hour and was less than mediocre. My husband ordered fried haddock. His dinner...
