I was on a cross country walk and stayed a few nights at Fisher's resort, in the summer of 2012. It's not a Hilton, but that's a compliment! Simple cozy cabins and a fun bar/restaurant right on Lake George. The owners were incredibly nice... I was hot so the son brought a fan into my room. One of the owners and some guests took me on a boat ride around the lake; just a really friendly family atmosphere.
I had to see a doctor for an injury, but couldn't get an appointment for a day or so. I told the woman who owned it that I was kinda stuck, and she let me stay an additional night free of charge. When I returned home after my trek, I drew a picture of the resort for them as a thank you.
Really neat place, wonderful people, and not far from Rhinelander. I recommend it as a welcome change from the sanitary and predictable Days Inn kind of place. Fisher's has atmosphere you can't get in a cookie cutter chain hotel....
Read moreI got excited by photos of their tables by the shores of Lake George. They had a Sunday night Broasted chicken special so decided to try them out. After 20 minutes we decided maybe we needed to go inside to let them know we were there. 40-50 crowded together, more people standing than sitting, a dumpy bar, and not a mask in sight. When my husband finally got a bartender's attention to ask to be served outside she pretty much just sneered. We waited for another 15 minutes which now smokers had congregated outdoors and we just left, realizing this was really for a tavern crowd who were not particular about...
