If you're venturing towards the Adirondacks and find yourself cruising along Route 3, The Thirsty Moose is a must-visit spot for a truly local experience. This gem, run by a charming husband-and-wife team, epitomizes the warmth and hospitality of small-town America. On my recent visit, while the place was bustling with a lively snowmobile crew, the atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant. The Thirsty Moose, true to its 'mom and pop' nature, offers a cozy, rustic ambiance that feels like a step back into a simpler time. Their menu, though I didn’t get to experience it fully due to the crowd, seemed to offer a variety of hearty, home-cooked meals - perfect for refueling after a day in the outdoors. One thing to note for future visitors: this place can get quite popular, especially with local snowmobile enthusiasts. It’s a testament to its reputation in the community. If you're looking for a quieter experience, you might want to check ahead or choose a time outside of peak hours. In conclusion, The Thirsty Moose is more than just a pit stop; it's a delightful slice of local culture, offering friendly service and a glimpse into the community spirit of the Adirondacks. I'm looking forward to a return visit where I can truly soak in the ambiance and enjoy what I'm sure is a fantastic culinary experience.

Always thankful to have any place nearby during the field research season to kick back and enjoy some ice water and a hot meal, this place goes above and beyond that. Stopped in towards closing to few people in the restaurant and was met with a smile from the bartender and a gesture to have a seat! I placed my order and it was done to my exact specifications in a timely manner. The owners were friendly, helpful, and personable and just great company overall. Glad I decided to stop in and recommend to anyone hungry or thirsty!

When we arrived we were the only ones there but soon a few more parties came in. There was one waitress on duty and she was absolutely amazing. She was attentive to our needs, and answered all our questions. The owner even came out to make sure everything was good and we had to say it was exceptional! With all of the closing of businesses in the area, the Thirsty Moose 🫎 is worth the drive to Childwold

I don't write many reviews but I felt the need to review this place.

Let me start off by saying when my brother and I first stepped in it seemed like our kind of place, however...

When we first sat down we ordered a couple of beers and received those right away.It took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted which was just a couple of sandwiches, the waitress was right there when we were ready. This is where everything started going downhill.

After about 20 minutes the waitress came to us tous to apologize that they were running a little behind but it would only be a short while longer for our order. After close to an hour my brother felt that this was wayyy to long to wait for sandwiches and asked the waitress for our bill for the drinks and that we would be leaving. The waitress again told us it would only be a couple of more minutes at which point we said not thank you. While this was going on a gentleman came out of the kitchen and explained that they had some large orders and our order would be out shortly, to which we responded no thank you we will pay for the drinks and be leaving. At this point the conversation was getting very heated and said that we needed to pay for the meal anyway which we would not ever receieve as we were leaving, when we told him one more time that we would not pay he called my brother an a@@hole loudly right in the dining room in front of other patrons and that he was calling the police. While this was going the poor waitress was staying out of it until finally she told us what the drink were (i feel bad for her for being in the middle but I applaud her for her professionalism), we then paid that tab and left.

He kept using the excuse that he has some large meals that he was preparing but this was a couple of sandwiches, surely they could have squeezed them in in less...

If i could rate this 0 stars i would. As soon as me and a group of friends came into this restaurant, we were instantly greeted with rude stares and silence. The rest of the experience was just as unwelcoming. We sat down, ordered food, and were served by a waitress who made faces at us when she thought we couldn’t see us, and was extremely rude and passive aggressive the entire time. The food was okay at best. One of my friends ordered pasta with red sauce. Not meat sauce. Nowhere on the menu did it say the red sauce (which is typically tomato sauce) had meat in it. When my friend asked politely if there was meat in it, she was given a response in a very rude tone saying, “all our sauce has meat in it, you should have specified otherwise”. If you don’t know what red sauce is, then don’t serve it. Or run a restaurant actually. After we left the door was locked after us. Immediately. There were still other people in the restaurant and it was an hour from closing. This place is not welcoming to outsiders or vegetarians. How are you going to be unwelcoming to outsiders when you advertise cabins in the back the rent? Do not stop here. I have never had a worse restaurant experience in...
