The Shop Fair Valley Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Prairie du Sac

We stopped in at The Shop last night for the Friday fish fry, excited to try the walleye. We also ordered the calamari, but unfortunately, it tasted old and stale. We decided to just push through and hoped the rest of the meal would be better.

I ordered a Tequila Sunrise, and to my surprise, the bartender didn’t know what that was. When I received my second drink, it wasn’t made with the same tequila, and I started feeling bloated not long after.

My walleye sandwich lacked any real flavor—the cheese was the only thing I could taste. My husband’s walleye still had the skin on, which might have been intentional (possibly pan-fried?), but it wasn’t mentioned on the menu and caught us off guard.

Later that evening, I felt very bloated and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, my husband had a worse reaction—it hit him within 30 minutes of getting home, and he ended up sick for most of the night.

I gave the atmosphere a 2 because it was uncomfortably cold inside, and the general vibe just didn’t feel welcoming. It seemed like if you’re not a regular or over 60, you may not feel like you belong. Sadly, the experience didn’t live up to the glowing reviews we read, and it left us wondering if some of those might be a bit too generous—or perhaps...

5 of us for dinner, Friday , time 5:15. All ordered fish special haddock with shrimp, baked potatoes were hard and cold to the point the butter would not even melt. Told them so they microwaved, not a fan of a microwaved potatoe, fish was just “OK” not the flaky white fish we’re used to getting at a Wisconsin Friday night fish fry. We asked for a drink and were told we’d have to go to the bar for that ! What? Our food is on table and now we have to go up to bar for a drink??? Ordered deep fried mushrooms, they were basically SLICED and fried not even a WHOLE mushroom and not even a half but sliced breaded mushrooms?? Huh? Don’t be fooled by the pictures they’re not as they are one ordered in the restaurant. The place before These people bought this bar had delicious deep-fried mushrooms Portabella‘s quartered, huge delicious. What a huge disappointment! bad food and horrible service!...

Small bar and grill out in the middle of nowhere. I worked about 15 minutes away and this was the place my department would go for special occasions. Service is slow, but very personal and the food is fantastic. I don't recall anyone ever getting something they didn't really enjoy. If you like a burger prepared like you would at home, this is a great place to go. Plenty of choices for how potatoes sides are prepared, plus a sweet potato option. They make a wicked Old Fashioned. Weekdays are usually really slow for lunch. Sometime there's only one or two other people there. The weekends get really packed, often spilling out into the outdoor...
