Had a great dining experience Friday evening at Rumors. All the food ordered was hot and very tasty. Started with Poutine as an appetizer. For those not familiar, this is the favorite food of Canada. It's tater tots with cheese curds covered with beef gravy. Delicious, but I live with the shame of eating it...but it was delicious. I had the meatloaf dinner, and my wife had the perch fish fry. Meatloaf was wrapped in bacon (shame level rising), with mashed red potatoes and corn w/various red and green peppers. All was delicious. The perch fry was equally good. Sides were coleslaw and au gratin potatoes. The potatoes were super. Both meals started with clam chowder. More clams in this chowder than in the last 5 bowls I've had elsewhere combined. Rolls were served with cinnamon butter and a cheese spread. I also need to mention the bourbon old fashion sweet was perfect...just the way mom used to serve. In all, a wonderful surprise. For those familiar with the location of Rumors, it's gone thru many different owners. It looks like this group is a winner! The only negative is server training. They couldn't have been trying harder or been more pleasant. Just require a bit more experience and...
Read moreWe spent a few days at the Osthoff and wanted to get food offsite. As I was looking at Maps around the area I saw Rumors Roadhouse and told the wife we should try it out. On first glance when we went in it would appear to be a typical out of the way WI bar in a small town. But we were in for a surprise!
The bartender is a musician/singer who was about to start playing, and was accompanied by a local teacher who plays accordion and a drummer showed up. Classic rock and blues with dinner!
I had the BBLT (BLT with brisket) and told my wife she could have half and I would take half of her pulled chicken sandwich.....let's just say the wife was luck to get the SINGLE bite I let her have! My meal came with a HUGE pile of fresh cut fries that was enough for us to share. The accoridion player had the Mac with brisket and it looked amazing too! All in all, great food for a great price!
If you're in the area, hit...
Read moreWe had a dinner in the hall for about 50 people after my mother's funeral. Jeanette was so informative and kind. Helping us to order what was needed to feed that many people and keeping everything as simple yet delicious. The hall was spacious and could have accommodated many more. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Everything was ready when we arrived along with a small bar in the hall so no one needed to go out of the room to get drinks. Alex was the bartender and was very attentive to everyones needs. The food was delicious and was the perfect temperature. Everyone loved the pulled pork and German potato salad. I especially loved the chicken and homemade beans. Alex also did a slide show of many of the theatre productions mom acted in. A great tribute to a beautiful woman. A special thank you to Jeanette and Alex for making one of our families' most sad days into a wonderful memory we will...
