Beautiful Setting, But Needs Serious Upgrades will never stay here again! We recently stayed here for a week and had a mixed experience. The location is undeniably beautiful and peaceful, with stunning views and a quiet atmosphere that’s perfect for disconnecting. The rustic lodge feel is charming, and the patio area is a definite highlight — lots of seating, a cozy fire pit, and a great place to unwind. The staff we encountered were friendly, and it's nice that pets are allowed. There’s also a variety of shared amenities like water equipment, TVs in the common areas, and a microwave and toaster available for guest use. Wi-Fi was excellent throughout our stay, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings. That said, there are quite a few areas where the property falls short, especially considering the price point. Many rooms (including ours) are very dated — some lack basics like nightstands, dressers, lamps, or even window shades. There’s no fridge or microwave in any room, and the shared kitchen space was unclean and unbearably hot. One microwave and one toaster for 14 rooms felt inadequate. There’s no air conditioning in the common spaces, no community laundry, and no daily housekeeping. Throughout our stay, no one cleaned our room or bathroom. The circuit breaker tripped easily, and the hot water was inconsistent. We also had some unpleasant encounters with carpenter ants and even got bitten by a daddy longlegs while in bed — we saw several during our stay. Other downsides: dining options and gas stations are not close by, especially when heading toward Dream Field. The restaurant on-site has very limited hours, and no breakfast is offered. There are also no outdoor grills or stoves for guest use, which makes meal prep difficult. Stairs are tough to navigate, and trash cans were oddly missing on the second level. In short, while the setting and vibe are great, the accommodations and amenities need major attention. With some investment in updates, cleanliness, and staffing, this place could be a gem — but as it stands, it’s overpriced for what you get.

Partner and I had a lot of trouble finding a place to stay on a July weekend when the little league camps were going. All we could find was a room at the lake house. We came in and the folks at the front were very kind and friendly. The room was OK, very outdated, though I was expecting that. I read lots of reviews about the showers being freezing - we didn’t have an issue there. The problem came when we pulled back the sheets and found multiple hairs 🤢. Luckily (we thought) there was a second bed. We pulled back the sheets and inspected. We found one very long hair at the foot of the bed. 🤢🤢. We slept a bit fretfully on top of the sheets. I will say that hospitality staff changed the sheets - no questions asked. However, we came back to our room after a day touring and just decided to head home. If you have options, I wouldn’t stay here.

I am so grateful I found this place! My boyfriend and I came from Pennsylvania and we travel alot, usually doing air b&bs. We booked the rail express in Milford and wanted somewhere to stay for the weekend. This was beyond our expectations. We stayed in one of the cabins which was so adorable! The beds are SO COMFY! Walking out your door is the most gorgeous view of the lake. The vintage feel to the hotel/lodge is so neat! You just don’t see that anymore. It is so clean, the food is absolutely phenomenal, and the husband and wife running it are the nicest people we have ever come across in doing all of our traveling! They made us feel right at home without hesitation. Thank you so much for an amazing stay. We will most definitely be coming back to do some fishing!

I rarely post reviews but wanted to share my experience so others had a better idea of what to expect. I stayed with my family here and we stayed one night. If I were planning on staying longer we would have definitely found somewhere else. At first I was like this is a cute quaint place. The view of the lake is really lovely. However those few positives couldn't redeem this place. We had two beds and the rooms were essentially joined. Once I saw the second bed me and my husband were like that's weird. The bed was on a platform a good 4 feet high, you had to literally climb up into this thing. That room had walls covered in fabric from the 80's. The other bed seemed fine but the floor was not level under it so when laying down my head was lower than my feet. I just slept with my head at the foot of the bed to fix that. I went to take a shower, shower was dirty, rest of the bathroom seemed clean. The shower had no shower head and very little water pressure, water trickled out and I barely could rinse the soap off. Which leads me to my next point, the knobs weren't labeled and I could not get hot water. After I asked, even the housekeeper couldn't figure out how to actually get the water hot, and was surprised that there was no shower head. Our TV wasn't working so we asked for someone to check it. The housekeeper came and discovered that the remote and roku were both missing and tried to fix it by putting in a new roku. After 30 -45 minutes in our room trying to fix it she still couldn't get it to work. It was 8:30 at night and honestly we just wanted to relax so asked her to leave. We ate at the restaurant there and the food was ok. My husband did not eat his dinner because he didn't like it. We did wait quite a while for our food and the bread bowl came out but we had no plates so just ate off our napkins. The waitress was friendly. If you want to stay somewhere nice don't go here. If you want to have a funny travel story about how you survived a stay here go right ahead. We left as soon as we could in the morning. My husband was laughing when I asked him to check under the beds before we went to sleep. He said out of all the places we have stayed, we never felt the need to check under...
