To start off with, one of the people in our party asked how many sides came with his meal so he could decide on which ones he wanted. Instead of just telling him that the dinners came with 2 and sandwiches came with 1, she has to open his menu and show him where it was. Then he wanted their small loaf of bread that used to come with the meal. He never received it. When she brought his meal she told him she had forgot it and that she would bring it right out and take it off his bill. As, I said it never came. Then I ordered the pulled pork meal with loaded fries and broccoli. I had asked for the broccoli to be extra hot because every time I get broccoli at a diner it is cold. When it came they brought 2 containers of BBQ sauce with it. One was a commercial sauce and the other was a house sauce that they make. It was super thin and smelled like straight vinegar. I would not recommend it. The broccoli was so cold the butter on top was not even melted. It was like frosting on top of a cake. The loaded fries were pre-seasoned fries with shredded cheese on top, crumbled crispy bacon pieces, and fresh chives. So cold that I went to pick up 1 fry and I picked up the entire order. Another person in our party ordered The hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. She was very pleased with that which came with a small plastic container of cranberry sauce. And the last person in our party ordered the seafood platter. It was loaded with fries and onion rings, enough for 2 people. At the end of our meal we waited a long time for our server to get our check. But, when she finally came I informed her that she never brought the bread back that she had said she was going to bring and take off the bill. It took 3 minutes to explain to her what I was trying to say because she kept cutting me off. I was just making a point that it NEVER made it to him. I understand forgetting once, but twice was no excuse and then the attitude was very unprofessional. She does not belong in the service industry...
Read moreDespite its name, the Lakeside restaurant is not situated on a lake. However, its interior is decorated in a nautical theme. Two of us went on a Thursday afternoon. There were two booths occupied by senior citizens. After we (in our 50s) sat down, a party of twenty-somethings and a child came in. All patrons were greeted and treated with cheerfulness and respect.
I ordered the grilled shrimp, which came with a choice of two sides. I chose broccoli and coleslaw. My friend wanted to order the lasagna, but they had just run out. Our server explained that it is made to order (not frozen), so when it’s gone, it’s gone. His second choice was spaghetti and meatballs. This came with a fresh garden salad: iceberg lettuce, with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion and shredded cheese, with a house dressing (Italian) on the side. It was a generous serving of pasta, but we were surprised they didn’t offer grated parmesan or Italian bread with it. My entree was delicious. The shrimp (8 of them) were perfectly cooked: moist and buttery. They came with a cocktail sauce, but were so tasty without it. The broccoli was tender and lightly buttered. The coleslaw was creamy, but not soupy. Very nicely done!
Service was timely. From the time we ordered, it took just 5 minutes for the salad to come out, and an additional 7 minutes for our entrees to appear. I recommend this place for a casual, affordable meal...
Read moreYesterday we decided to take a road trip from our home in Ulster County to see Lake Ontario (3 hours away). We happened upon The Lakeside in Pulaski (near Selkirk State Park) and we are so pleased that we did. The Lakeside offers a wide array of reasonably priced food/beverage/dessert choices and we ordered a broiled seafood platter and a BBQ pulled pork sandwich (and homemade baked beans as side dishes). The former was cooked perfectly and every bite was scrumptious! The pulled pork came on a butter toasted bun. The meat was perfectly BBQ'd and tender. The sandwich came with two BBQ sauces, one of which was a homemade vinegar-based sauce that had a nice kick. It added another level of tastiness to an already fabulous sandwich. For dessert we had the spice cake and the banana creme pie (both homemade)--both were amazing. What made the lunch even more perfect was the outstanding customer experience provided by our server, Lisa, who was so kind to tell us about the area and recommend places to visit so that we could get good views of the lake. Without doubt, this was one of the best dining experiences we have had in NY state and we cannot wait to return. The Lakeside is a gem and worth the drive...
