Hoozels at The Lakes — Restaurant in Town of Rome

First time in the area for the Labor Day weekend with friends. We always do friday night fish fry so we chose this venue. Got put on a list for dining in and told 30-45 minute wait. We enjoyed music under the tent and the outside bartender was really good. Got a table about an hour and 15 minutes later, but we enjoyed the atmosphere under the tent, so no big deal. On the way to our table two people in our group got stopped by old friends. Our server, Tom, was asked to put our cheese curd order in and return when the rest of our party was at the table, because as a server, we know it would be easier to send thru POS that way. Curds were great. Then Tom ignored us for 35 minutes, taking orders for tables seated well after we sat, walking by, never making eye contact or letting us know he remembered us... until we were leaving. No drinks, no water, no service. Can't comment on main menu items, because the service we didn't get. It was rude. I've been in the service industry for many years, and Tom didn't represent it well. We were so mad, we enjoyed Kwik Trip instead of being treated like we weren't worth...

We’ve been here multiple times and love the atmosphere! We’ve always been pretty happy with the appetizers, however we’ve tried so hard to like the main courses since it’s such a fun place to come but after our most recent visit to finally try their Friday fish fry, we probably won’t be back for a while! Super busy night as it was Friday night in Wisconsin! We got seated right away, bit of a wait for a waiter to get to us but absolutely fine! Placed our full order right away then. I got the Bloody Mary for the first time, and was very disappointed as it was advertised as one of the best in the state. Unfortunately was the worst Bloody Mary I’ve had. My boyfriends old fashioned as awful too. The fish was over done and I also got the deep fried shrimp as an add on and they were over done as well. Very dry! My boyfriend has gotten the smash burger multiple times hoping for improvement and it just hasn’t done it for him. The French fries are yummy! We wanted to love it as we are big foodies. It’s was excited to come here but we got here they told us that they had to put us one the wait list for 10-15 mins and then those minutes passed by. We went up to ask and they said another 10-25 mins. They took longer then that we wait about one hour and a half just to be seated. We ordered the food and drinks and took forever just to get five drinks. Our server I think was Monica earthier way she was rude when we asked her how much longer the food and she said “well we don’t make the food we just take the orders” like we know can’t you just go ask the cook.
