All of our food was terrible. My $58 Ribeye was grainy and tough. My shrimp were overcooked. I didn't even order shrimp! I ordered scallops. Waitress said they don't even have scallops on the menu. Um, they do. My husband's pork shank was a blob of fat and skin with bones and two pieces of pork. My son's prime rib was ultra rare in the middle and we were told it would be medium. Or escargot seemed like one of those prepackaged frozen items that they microwaved. It was like chewing on rubber. We spit it out. Waitress was very nice but was really clumsy. It almost seemed like she could've been tipsy. But when we told her we hated our food she did not handle our complaint well. She told us she'd had 5 star reviews on the entrees all night. Then she abrasively said she'd see what they could do for us. THEN, the sloppy arrogant cook came out with grease stains all over his shirt and argued with us about the quality of the food. That made the situation worse! I can't imagine what that kitchen looks like. Then, when I was talking with the cook, he didn't like what I had to say and flipped me off on the way back to the kitchen! Hospitality at it's finest!
AllI can say is that I researched all of the restaurants in the area and that's where I decided to spend my hard earned money, from the restaurant business, I might add. We are huge restaurant goers. We love to dine. And we were so excited to try your place out. And I literally left there crying. You should be embarrassed you have that cook that would come out and belittle patrons. If that were my place I'd cook the food my damn self before I let a fool like that be the face of my restaurant.. He told me he was the owner at one point. I paid for half of our food, which I should NOT have. I only wanted to pay so I could tip because the quality of the food had nothing to do with our waitress. I gave them my phone number to have the owners call me. If they don't, that's just a scapegoat. It was still $ 175!!! Not including the tip. I'm really bummed we came there at all. I'm still hungry and now I'm upset. McDonald's would have been better, honestly. ...
Read moreWife and I made a reservation (very important for popular long established Supper Clubs) and arrived early to experience the bar where we met owner Tom who was very busy before our dinner but after dinner drinks at the bar Tom couldn’t have been more engaging & informative. At dinner, server was friendly, engaging and very professional. Heather checked back with us several times during our meal to ensure we had everything we needed. Salads were mixed greens with mandarin orange side not just iceberg lettuce, thousand island dressing high quality. Wife ordered the filet and I ordered the ribeye and Snitzel, all cooked exactly as ordered(medium rare) with a noticeable crusty seasoning that did not overpower the taste of the meat, very delicious. The potato pancakes were some of the best I’ve ever had, not thin and greasy but thick, crisp edges with a depth of flavor rarely found. The Snitzel will give Austrian Snitzel a run for the money! The relish tray was diverse and delicious, very unique. Pricing of menus choices very different in that you can choose a low priced meal or a high priced meal. Tastefully decorated thru out, clearly a Bavarian theme that fits well in the Northwoods. Certainly would recommend and will revisit when...
Read moreNice old supper club located just outside of Hayward. Flowers surrounding the building were lovely! We arrived after a long day of exploring the northwoods hoping to experience a nice dinner. When we approached the hostess stand stating we were a party of 4 the woman asked if we had a reservation. No, we did not. After she made it feel like we were dumb for just showing up as there were plenty of names on her list already and she was unsure if we should be seated she gave us a table someone else didn't want (her words). I get having to figure out the timing for your kitchen. But making guests feel less than welcome upon arrival might not be best. Prices are higher than other supper clubs we've visited in the area. They do offer split plates for a fee but if you are looking to eat a steak dinner expect around $50 a plate all said and done if you enjoy a cocktail at dinner. Steaks were cooked to perfection and were very good and our server was kind and hustled all night. I like the places around the northwoods that make you feel at home and that they truly appreciate your business. First impressions...
