Tavern at White Stag Farm — Restaurant in Town of Round Lake

Our first visit to this restaurant during the summer was incredible. The food was perfect and our waiters were extremely attentive and quick. However, when we came back a couple weeks ago, we were severely disappointed. We came early for a reservation, and despite many tables being empty, were told to wait at the bar until they could set a table for the four of us. We waited there with no employee checking in on us for the next 30 minutes while other groups (who came in after us w/o reservations) were sat. Finally, a member of our group went up to check on our table, and only at that point did we get sat. Our waitress was nice enough, but seemed to get overwhelmed very easily and forgot to write down part of our order. The food took incredibly long despite once again, the restaurant being nowhere close to full. One member of our group ordered the pasta with veggies and white sauce, and found that the veggies seemed completely uncooked and were almost inedible due to their hardness. There were also sugar snap peas (uncooked) in the pasta, which was not stated on the menu, and were no artichokes in the pasta, which was listed on the menu. I hope to come back here during the summer again and find a better environment, but we are disappointed in the experience we had this...

A True Gem in Hayward!

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Tavern at White Stag Farm. The food was delicious, the drinks were phenomenal and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.

The bartenders were exceptional—not only were the drinks fantastic, but they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They offered great menu recommendations, let us sample a rosemary whiskey before ordering (which was amazing), and truly made our night with their friendliness and expertise.

But what really sets this place apart is their kindness and care. I accidentally left my rain jacket at the restaurant, and the next morning while walking around town, one of the bartenders actually recognized me on the street, remembered the jacket, and took the time to call a manager. Even though the restaurant was closed, the manager came in just to help me get it back. That kind of thoughtfulness is so rare and so appreciated.

This is the kind of place you don’t forget—not just for the food and drinks, but for the people. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend Tavern at White Stag Farm to anyone...

After looking at many restaurant reviews/ratings around this area we decided to come here. It’s was a cozy little joint. The server was very friendly. We started with the ahi tuna and salmon bites- which were both fantastic. We also enjoyed their maple old fashioned- phenomenal! However we ordered dinner, and it took an exuberant amount of time to get our main meals out. Mind you the restaurant when we got there was 80% - but within 30 min of us being there it had cleared out to 3 tables on a Saturday evening. Our food came out over an hour later. We finally got to enjoy the filet and frites, the pork tomahawk, short ribs and the surf and turf burger. It’s was all fantastic! Unfortunately the wait time was not what we had in mind.
