Took my mom to pond BBQ pit in sandy creek she wanted to try it.it was a total joke everything screams cheap.waited in there primitive line 1/2 hour I was only 6 in line while one person took orders on the phome handled take out took in restaurant orders and ran there antiquated payment system and handed out food. Already the tell me no salt potatoes. How does a BBQ place run out of salt potatoes must be the local store ran out again too cheap so after my half hour wait in line we spent some special time with my mom. After a hour wait for our food our buzzer blinks (yes buzzers) I go to get our food and my mom's order they are out of about all that's left is Ruben and Mac salad and potatoes salad now they boast of 20 different sides and there out of them all except there salads. So my mom being a good sport orders that I'll be... They tell us it 8 bucks more 8 bucks more to eat what you don't want. So one again another half hour they buzz me I get our food and my moms is still not ready 15 minutes later she gets hers so much for a. Nice meal together oh and they forgot one of her salads. Nothing we had tasted smoke flavor so must have rushed that too cheap. Then the drunk chic in the bar makes excuses until they screwed up her order then it was"it's the hired helps fault the owner is not here but she doesn't care because she appreciates having a place so close to drink. Wanted to ask her if there were enough locals to keep the doors open.So let's recap long wait to order 6 people in a half hour ran out of almost every item waited another hour to tell us we don't have what she wants and by then they ran out of everything else then after 15 min more half our party gets served it another 10 min before my mom gets hers and then they charge extra. Oh yes and they close 21/2 hours early because they don't have food. Most fireman are more organized than this place. So less than average food long waits poor service and inconsistent hours save your money if you want BBQ you are better off supporting your local...

This is the third year in a row we have hit this place up while vacationing at Lake Ontario. If you are looking solely for exquisitely smoked meats and delectable sides with no care about the flow or service of a restaurant, look no further. I would give this place 10 stars for the food alone. Of the 5 of us that come here every year we’ve had practically everything on the menu and it is all worth the hassle. Now on to the hassle…it has taken us 3 years to feel moderately comfortable ordering here. There is no real rhythm or reason to where to get into line. There are multiple entrances and one window where you order, pay and pick up your food. If you’re in the middle of ordering they will stop you to hand out an order to a patron whose order is ready. And the condiment station is also about 4 inches from this window. On busy nights it’s a masterclass in chaos. Not sure what the owners were thinking when they designed this place. Also, if I’m ordering, getting back up to pick up my food and get my own condiments, then cleaning off my own table, maybe don’t ask for a tip when I’m paying? What am I tipping for? I’ve done everything myself except cook the food. And shame on the owners if they aren’t paying their cooks what they deserve. But after considering all that, will we still come back here next year when we’re back up this way? 1000% yes. This place may not know how to make a restaurant flow well but they know how to smoke meats. And ultimately that’s all...

Kind of difficult to navigate for first timers. There is no table service. Between the band playing making it difficult to hear what we needed to do and having an elderly family member with me we felt a tad confused what to do at first, but other patrons pointed us what to do to order and where and how to bus your table after.

First, order drinks at the bar and pay, then order food at the window after ringing a bell to call for service. You order and pay at the window. Once food is ready you are call on a PA system.

The two things we ordered they were out of so we had to both make a second choice. All in all, the food made up for being a tad confused at first. I ended up with the pulled chicken and the other person had the 1/2 ribs. The BBQ was really good. Also great side choices. I really liked the MAC salad and hand cut fries. Plastic silverware can also be expected. Not being able to have the 1/2 chicken forced me to do the pulled chicken, which was a great thing. I would never have ordered that, but it was so easy to eat, and will probably order it that way instead of having to pull off the bone.

Now that I know how the system works I will know what to do next time. Just a bit quirky for first timers. Especially if you are expecting to be waited on. We will be back and will be pros at how we do The Pit! Live music is great...

We finally made it up to Pond Pit BBQ in Sandy Creek. We shared the brisket nachos and the Pig Pen (basically a garbage plate). The nachos were awesome. Smothered in meat and sauces. The chips were super crispy. The Pig Pen was enormous. The lady at the order window even warned me about it. We also got the bigger one with mac n cheese added. Everything in that was good, but the standouts for me were the chicken and the mac n cheese. Despite our best efforts, we weren't able to conquer all of it, but we gave it the ol college try. Maybe the best thing about this place, though, is the drinks. I had a beer, she had two huge cocktails. $10 total for the drinks. As others have mentioned before, this place doesn't have traditional service. You seat yourself. Order/pay for food at the window. Order/pay for your drinks at the bar. If you find yourselves up in the area, give them a try. You won't be disappointed!
