First thing to note is there are a number of bad reviews spanning several years. That is your first clue - this place has been bad for years. I have been going once or twice a year since it was 9 holes and the clubhouse was a tent, so I have seen the progression from bad to worse. The golf course could be really nice, but they do not maintain it properly. Really too bad because it could be beautiful. It is not challenging either, not necessarily a bad thing depending on your skill level. I still go once or twice a year because I don't need to play anything difficult, but for the price, the condition they keep it in is shameful. So why do I go? It's close to my home and a quick round when I can get out, but I don't recommend it. I always leave complaining about course conditions. The phone system sucks too. I usually get stuck in a continuous loop, it is nearly impossible to get a live person. The one positive is they have a great outdoor bar and restaurant on the 18th green, great for hanging out and having a drink and enjoy the view. Great, that is, when it is open - it seems like they never open until around Memorial Day, despite at least a month if not two of good weekend weather prior to that. And forget about trying to find out if they are open short of driving there - see above note about phone system, and website is not much help either. In short, this place could be awesome, but the management sucks, needs a real overhaul. I'm not sure why they would sink all this money into the place and then have such terrible service and maintenance. My guess is they try to make their money off the banquet hall and the rest is just there for show. Ya, I go there once in awhile against my better judgment, but you should avoid it and go somewhere they appreciate...
Read moreDon't expect to be welcome here if you're a family! When I called Lazy Swan to confirm a tee time I mentioned that I would be bringing my children yet when we arrived the pro stood staring at us from the open door of the pro shop, never offered a greeting and only identified himself as an employee after I posed the question. He then asked incredulously if we were playing and proceeded to harangue us about the course being crowded. This despite the fact that my kids carried their own bags, wore golf shoes and had on golf-specific attire all featuring the insignia from our club - we did not exactly look like we were a bunch of newbies heading out for a day of miniature golf. Two hours later, upon our return from our nine holes (where yes, we actually played through the four ball ahead of us), the pro once again just stared at us as we unloaded our clubs from the cart into our car - so very strange. It's too bad as the course is fun with some nice water holes/lovely views and the bar looks nice. I'm not sure why U.S. Kids has a tournament here; this is about as family-hostile as a golf...
