We were in Sturgeon Bay for the night and wanted to experience a supper club that we had not gone to on previous visits. MSC was a recommendation from our B&B owner. He stated that MSC gets busy because of their chicken dinners. I love chicken, so we wanted to give it a try. It was a 45-minute wait, which was perfect for us as we wanted to have a cocktail or two at the bar. Christi had one of the hand-made brandy Old-Fashioned. Delightful! I had a Korbel Manhattan. I was pleasantly surprised when the bartender asked if I wanted it with or without bitters! It was an excellent question to make sure I got my Manhattan made the way I prefer. It, too, was very good! Now comes the no so good part of the review. Dinner. Obviously, I ordered the chicken meal. I chose a combination of broasted and baked. I wanted to try both. The chicken dinner comers with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, coleslaw and a bread roll. After a 20-minute wait (not too bad), they brought everything but the chicken. A little over 5 minutes later, the chicken arrived. The potatoes we cold - not warm. The coleslaw was good. I used the gravy to try to warm up the potatoes, but it was only slightly warm. The stuffing was warm and good, but it is not homemade, but rather a prepackaged type. The chicken, however, we overcooked and dry. After 10 minutes of trying to flag down a waiter, I sent back the potatoes and chicken. He was apologetic and said he would be back with the replacements. 5 minutes later, the potatoes came back and this time they were very warm, perfect! Another 10 minutes layer my chicken came back, but it we even more cooked and dry. I only had one bite and shoved it to the side. I ended up pushing the chicken away and just fixing up on mashed potatoes and stuffing. Wait, it doesnt end here... My fiancée ordered the tenderloin and she ordered it medium - she made a point to say she only wants a little pink, not red. When it arrived, it was rare. We understand the cook doesn't want to overcook the tenderloin, but it wasn't even close to what she ordered. So it went back, too. When it came back 10 minutes later, it was well done - no pink. The salad bar was nice, and we enjoyed its options. In summary, I won't come back for the food, but only for their wonderful cocktails and...
Read moreWe came for a wonderful Family Style Chicken Dinner. I asked if there was wheat in the gravy. The waiter checked and told me it had wheat and corn. I said “no gravy for me”. He acknowledged me. I said no dinner roll and no stuffing. I ordered BAKED chicken because I know Broasted chicken is breaded. What a shock when the BAKED chicken was delivered to us that it was BREADED!!! I asked if this was broasted chicken, because it is breaded. The waiter then tells me all their chicken is breaded. What the hell!!! He couldn’t have told me that when we were ordering our meal??? This is amazingly stupid! I can’t have wheat so bring me wheat covered chicken!!! So he brings me a menu to order something else. 10 minutes later he finally comes back to see what I would like. I order a cheese burger, no bun. He never asked how I wanted it done. Almost all restaurants will tell you to have your burgers cooked medium well to well to protect from food poisoning. I never expected anything less than medium well. 20 minutes later, with my husband done eating, I finally get my cheeseburger. The plate has blood on it and when I cut it in half, it is medium rare at best! This is unacceptable service and it was unbelievable when I asked for the bill that he tried to charge me for the uncooked burger. He said they were willing to cook it more for me. My husband is done eating. I have lost my appetite and my cool. I want out of this place. They clearly don’t care about food allergies or the health of their patrons! I refused to pay for that burger. He adjusted the bill. My husband paid it and for whatever ridiculous reason he gave the waiter an 18% tip! It wasn’t warranted or deserved. I will never come to The Mill Supper Club again and if you value your health, I suggest you...
Read moreWe (wife and myself) up for a couple of days, had never been there before. Have always been adventurous when dining and as with most Wisconsinites feel like you can't go wrong with a good ol' Wisconsin Supper Club. Wife ordered the grilled chicken/wild rice, chicken soup. She was very satisfied. I ordered a 12 oz Ribeye and salad. Wife had a cocktail and I had an ice tea. Her drink was fine, as was my tea. As soon as our waitress brought my ribeye and placed it down in front of me I realized I had made a $26.95 mistake. This was a terrible selection on my part. It was one of those bland, out of a box steaks you can get from any restaurant supply business, or buy them yourself in the freezer section of any grocery chain. I ate the entire thing, not because it was well prepared but because it cost $26.95. Damn if I'm spending $26.95 and not eating it. I was hungry. It was medium and still rubbery hard but after many chews I got it down. Our waitress checked with us once after bringing our food. Wife had wanted a 2nd cocktail after finishing. She was able to order it, not from our waitress but the hostess who came over after seeing our plates were empty. A good server will keep glasses full (if wanted) and patrons happy with the attention. After my wife was finally able to order her cocktail it took about 10 minutes, during which we both stated to each other that by the time she gets it she won't want it. We were ready to just leave at that point, however she finally received her drink. The lack of attention from our server, the awful steak, and time waiting for a 2nd drink left us saying we will not return to The Mill, and will not recommend it to our friends...
