We'd been on the road forever and just wanted a quick, but good, bite. Perhaps we erred by getting tap water and just wanting something small and dessert, but our service was abysmal. It took two hours from start to finish when we kept repeating we had another hour to drive. I ordered the fried clams, which was a mistake. All you tasted was fried breading, which continued for hours. We ordered an arugula salad which had peaches (3 tiny strips), goat cheese (barely there) and a dozen nuts. Not worth $15. My husband and mother-in-law ordered appetizer portions of the Risotto with broccoli and Gnudi, which they both liked. The bread and butter for the table was good. For dessert I ordered the warm chocolate brownie with the 'smores' ice cream and wound up with a donut, which my husband agreed to eat when she informed him his warm chocolate chip cookies would take another 10 minutes. When they brought out my brownie it was cold. My mother-in-law had the steamed parsnip cake which should be described as a gingerbread soufflé. That was absolutely delicious. Tables came and went eating 3 courses while we were there waiting for one thing or another from a waitress who even spoke in slow motion. Many men gave the women their jackets because the AC was blasting and it was cold. It was warmer outside with the tower heaters! The owner? came out to many of the tables but not ours. We're real foodies. This was an off night but we wanted to try them based on their reputation. What really frosts me is I watched people get served tavern food (which would have been faster) and we weren't even told that was possible till I pointed out what they got to our waitress. We won't be back.
It was nice of the owner to write back, but we didn't get out of there till nearly 10. We arrived a little before 8. I have the text messages to my sister in law to prove that we got home at 10:47 from Big Indian to Palenville. The POS ticket was opened at 8:06 after we placed our food order. I have no idea why he thinks we left at 9, but that's wrong. We were there 2 hours. It's possible she closed out the POS, but she disappeared after serving us dessert and it took quite some time to get the check and then get the...
Read moreWhat a shame I did not want to make this review I own two restaurants. I usually go four times a year so I decided to bring some friends I called the day before and I reserved 4 orders of short ribs just to make sure that they will have them because usually they always run out of them they applied by saying we have plenty plus you coming in at 5 o’clock when we open so you do not have to save any dishes . I arrived next day on time sat down had my drinks and the server comes over to take our order. We said that we called the day before and they said that they have short ribs. She said I’m sorry, but we ran out of them. I ask that you just opened up 5 PM we’re here with the first ones, she said I’m sorry but we don’t have them but if you want you can order the Bolognese pasta that have short ribs pieces inside I said OK we ordered a full meal we were rushed when they brought out the soup they brought up the salad, I told them to take back the salad because the table was crowded behind the salads they brought the appetizers but we’re not done with the soup. I did not say anything they picked up the soup and brought us a entries immediately without bringing the salad. I asked them what happened to the salad they came back saying it’s on the house. They tried to bribe me with a salad which we did not eat , the pasta dinner did not have one piece of short ribs inside we order dessert before she brings the dessert. She asked us I’m sorry I can’t hear you. Do you want that to go? After sitting at the table for an hour and a half now, she decided that she cannot hear Honestly after that I will not go back to this place also, the owner came over telling my wife that the short ribs are very expensive. That’s why she didn’t buy them for a couple of months and I think the chef and the people working there , should go back to school for a refreshment course to learn how not to lie and how to treat...
Read moreCame here to celebrate my bday with my bf from our weekend escape from the city. This restaurant stood out to me because of the moose heads around the restaurant. It was interesting to see a real moose on the wall at their bar. The service was fantastic and our waiter was very polite and friendly. The atmosphere was very relaxing and more like a trendy edm lounge type vibe. They gave us bread to start off, which was warm and very good. Then, we ordered the grilled octopus appetizer to start, I thought that the octopus was good, but my bf said it was a bit salty. Then, as main, we got the burger and salmon. Highly recommend the burger that came with apple sauce that was good and salmon that came on a bed of lentils that was interesting. Then, at the end, we ordered the gelato, and they added the 1 bday baby candle! So I did add on my reservation that it was for my bday celebration, but they wanted us to order a dessert first to add the candle. That was a bit disappointing, lol. I thought they would provide a cake for bday reservations as other "high-end" restaurants in the city do for their customers. Nonetheless, I loved the new experience at peekamoose and would recommend coming here if you're a huge fan of hunting or like us curious urbanites. If not, it might be a bit scary seeing all the stuffed moose and deer heads around. Lol. The location was a bit out of the way for us. I would only stop by if you're in a neighborhood or live nearby. We reserved, but it looked like there were plenty of open...
