Ralph's Bar & Bowling — Restaurant in Town of Shandaken

A group of hiking friends and I finally made it over to Slide Mt. Inn for some post hiking nourishment and what a gem this little restaurant/bar with bowling alley and billiards turned out to be. Wonderful old world authentic Germanic Catskill style interior with very cool historical art and objects. Nice selection of beers/ wine and special cocktails. Small but excellent menu and according to two fellow hikers, they had the 'BEST BRATWURST' they have ever eaten and these two are true carnivores. My spinach and cheese filled crepes were great as well as their salad of fresh greens. We ate inside but they do have a lovely lawn space for outside dining where there was also live music to drink to. We stumbled onto this gem almost by accident. Walked in and were told the bowling is free. Well, that was a shocker. Nothing is free these days! Worked up an appetite and ordered the sausage pizza. There was a bit of a wait but oh so worth it. Sipped our amazing cocktails (Bees Knees & An Old Fashioned) and contemplated ordering another pizza. So we did! It came out super fast and we devoured it. Tyler is an amazing bartender and has a great personality. Over stuffed we said good bye and can’t wait to come back. I already miss the animal heads...

Can’t recommend Ralph’s enough!!! Cozy tavern atmosphere, great beers, fun activities - billiards, pinball, (free!) bowling, and all around good vibes. We only had the pretzel (giant and delicious) but the hotdogs looked great and we hear the pizza is killer. Mike at the bar was full of good stories and great local tips.
