Last night me and four friends came in for dinner and some drinks, we got our first round of drinks and drank them. After that it took a long time for our server Camille to come take our orders which was no big deal because I respect that she was probably busy. We finally ordered our food and more drinks, finished everything and were waiting to order more drinks for quite a while. When she finally came back she said “okay boxes? Check?” Her tone and body language strongly expressed to us that she wanted us to leave probably because she did not want to keep bringing us drinks, she wanted us to eat and get out so she didn’t have to do her job. Understandable, but unacceptable. We said we would like to order more drinks and she seemed irritated and even rolled her eyes at my friend simply for ordering more drinks. We sat again for a long time as we watched her wander around dancing and laughing having a great time and that is when I decided to just head to the bar and get us a couple more drinks so we could have them and leave. I approached the bar and patiently waited for the bartender (who’s name I did not get) to ask what I wanted. She told me three or four times “i’ll be right with you” and when she finally acknowledged me she had a very snotty tone, pretending to be a sweetheart but she was really being very rude and unwelcoming. She said “what do you need are you ready to pay your bill? And I responded no thank you I just wanted to get a couple drinks (because that’s kinda what the bar is for) and she said “okay what table are you sitting at where are you eating?” A little confused as to why it mattered I pointed over to our table and proceeded to explain that I just came up to get a couple beers because our server had not been back to check on us in a very long time but she inturrupted me and said “okay when your server comes back you can order some drinks” That is ridiculous. Pretty much told me to go back to my table because she wasn’t in the mood to do her job. She was far too busy entertaining the older gentleman and doing shots with them which is obviously very unprofessional and unacceptable to turn customers away because you’re lazy. We finally decided we had had enough and we just wanted to pay our bill and go somewhere else so we could actually drink like we intended to. Camille was dancing around, clearly avoiding going near our table or even looking in our direction so we had to get up and go ask for our check. From the beginning we indicated that we wanted the checks split three ways because we had two couples and a guest paying separately. When asking for the check we asked once again if she could split it up and she gave my friend a dirty look and rolled her eyes at him. After about five seconds she got frustrated and slammed our receipt down on the table and said here you split it up and figure it out. Rude as hell. Her tone was aggressive almost as if she was ready to fight somebody, it made us all very uncomfortable and confused as to what we did wrong But we started to divide the bill ourselves even though it’s clearly the servers job to do so. Again my friend got up and asked if she could split up the bill for us like she’s supposed to and once again gave us attitude so my friend decided to just pay for it all himself to save us all the headache. When he said it’s OK I’ll just cover it she’s very sarcastically said “ah there ya go you finally figured it out!” We were all pretty upset about the service. I can honestly say that that is the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. Camille and the bartender I spoke to were rude all night, smiling and talking with a nice tone but it was clearly fake. They treated us as if our presence in that establishment was interfering with their drinking and screwing around on the job. I’m really not one to complain about a bad experience in a restaurant but this was just over the top. Three out of five of us had never even been there before so it was our first time and I can honestly say We have no intentions of...
Read moreWe stopped here to eat, ostensibly on a family trip to Niagra Falls, but mainly we wanted to try Schwabl's - which was inexplicably closed on a Sunday.
We were very pleasantly surprised at the excellent food, considering this was a random, unplanned stop.
We had the Beef on Weck, pretzels with beer cheese, and the breaded hot wings.
All of these were delicious. The roast beef was tender and had delicious flavor, the wings were enormous, perfectly cooked (I like my wings soft, not crispy) and with an amazing hot sauce, and the pretzels were excellent with the beer cheese flavor I had not experienced before, but was a very welcome variation.
Speaking even more for the food, was that - being our paranoid selves, we chose to picnic out of the back of our SUV in the parking lot versus eating inside - the quality of the food was not diminished at all by being takeout.
Having to use the bathroom and feeling obligated to at least have a beer (two, actually) at the bar, I found the inside to be spacious, comfortable, and clean, with attentive staff and a pleasant atmosphere - even with the Bills / Dolphins game on!
An added esoteric plus for me was the retrofitted Sunoco sign. Don't ask, I just got a kick out of it.
In summation, I would expect that everything on the menu is great, but the three things we had - Beef on Weck, breaded wings, and pretzels with beer cheese - definitely...
Read moreOur first time at this place. My wife and I were seated literally 3 feet from the tub station that holds the dirty plates. Maybe that's because most of the tables were geared up for larger tables. We arrived just prior to dinner time so most of the tables were empty. Then to top it off the staff kept on slamming g and clanking the plates while they abruptly dropped them in. By the way we didn't see any of the staff washing their hands and they are clearing dirty dishes and handling money. What really was irritating, FLIES kept hovering and flying near our table. Not just one or two, there were constantly 3 to 4 around us. Meanwhile the staff ignored or couldn't care less of the flies. There were doors open near the bar and upstairs had a garage type door wide open at that bar. They need to do a better job. If they want to keep the patio doors open then they need to install a door between the upper and lower floor to isolate the flies. However if the bar door is open to that patio, on the first floor, then they need to install screening to stop infestation of insects. What is appalling is the staff and management should know better. From what I saw, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a door open near the kitchen. I'm sorry but sanitization doesn't seem too high on the list. I hope they...
