Lewis' Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Sherburne

Good food, but be prepared to wait!! It was our first visit to Lewis' Restaurant and we were excited to see if it was as good as the reviews. I made a reservation, arrived a few minutes prior and waited 22 minutes to be seated. Another table (no reservations) was seated before us. The restaurant was very busy and quite loud. I'm normally very forgiving of slower service when the restaurant is packed (and it was!), but I felt like we were dismissed other than the delivery of the food. My drink order included lemon, which I didn't get. We asked another employee to help with that and she did. I tried to order a refill, but the soda fountain wasn't working properly, so I had to wait 20-30 minutes for that, again, no lemon. Food: The salads were ok, but the greens were mostly iceberg lettuce which was a little disappointing. The toppings include some thinly sliced onion, cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. The dressing was good. The bread is served warm, but it's kind of squishy, so the pretty but cold balls of butter are so hard that your bread is completely squished by the time you get it buttered. We ordered Utica greens and they were quite good. We would order them again even though the price was a little higher than I expected. My companion ordered a special: creamy risotto with shrimp. It was delicious! I ordered the stuffed shells with meatballs. The meatballs were wonderful and the shells were really good, but not as filled as I would have liked. The sauce is better than most restaurants. We had to ask the hostess for to go containers and the check. I personally don't like it when restaurants take the food away to box it up, so I wasn't thrilled when she removed our plates to box it up in back. (I did ask for the boxes and said I would do it myself.) It took way too long to get them back and get the check. Yuck! Passing through from out of town, saw this place and it was so cute. Menu looked great also. It had literally been days since I had any hot food so imagine my excitement when I saw an open steak sandwich on the menu! Placing the order first off felt odd, the girl didn’t ask how I wanted the 10oz ribeye cooked. Thought hmm, ok maybe it’s a standard. I finally got my meal with a salad and fries. The meat looked frozen and microwaved, it was gray. The fries tasted of old oil and was cold, limp and tasteless just like the gray matter they claim is meat. Surely I thought, they can’t get a salad wrong? Yes. Yes they can. Brown wilted lettuce with an onion on top. Have you ever put an onion in the refrigerator? Yea, the smell was overwhelming! The 2 slices of cucumbers looked as if someone forgot them in the dehydrator. Lastly, they don’t even give silverware. I have eaten with y hands before but a salad and no fork?? I walked back in and asked for silverware and the girl looked confused. She had to leave and hunt some down for me. Not going back. It was gut wrenching to know I gave them $50 for cold microwave food....

Overall great dining experience! Atmosphere was very nice, even had live music. Server was great! Everyone was very happy with the food... However I do have to say I was disappointed with the scallops, the description says large scallops, there were 10 small bay scallops that were rubbery and not much flavor, would much rather have had 5 large sea scallops for the $20...I would still recommend giving this restaurant a try and would definitely go again! Probably one of the nicer restaurants in the area!
