Got here about 90 min before closing and they were happy to seat us anyway. One of the few seafood spots on the Hamptons to stay open padt 9pm during the week, so that's a huge plus in my book!
When this place was just the Lobster Inn it was kind of more divey and hit or miss sadly when it came to food quality. But still a local's fave.
Manna, the parent company who bought this space, is pretty well known out here since they own some other notable restauranter spots like Shen in Sag Harbour and also another one of my faves on the north fork, Claudio's in Greenport, so I knew already that the food was going to be great and that service was going to be awesome too. And we were not disappointed in the least bit by either.
Ordered the deviled eggs, new England clam chowder and frito misto to start. Our waiter was happy to split the soup portion into 2 for my kids who wanted to share it since one portion was going to be too big for just one of them. Their chowder isn't as thick as the usual NE version but it packed sooo much amazing flavor and had a great ratio of clams, bacon, and potatoes. Deviled eggs were delicious at crispy andouie sausage chunks were exactly what that dish cake for! However, the extra added lobster meat you can add on to the dish was so NOT worth it, the meat pieces were small, very chewy and stringy. The Frito misto was great, calamari pieces were fried well and had a nice crunch to them. Very little variety on the veggies part, just large chunks of green and yellow squash that were cut way too big and not fried long enough so several of them were gummy. Tomato and chili jam was perfect but it is NOT kid friendly unless your kid loves spicy.
They kept the LH splat dish, essential a lobster bake with a 2 lbs. Lobster, clams, mussels, chunks of chorizo, corn and red potatoes in a delicious buttery herb sauce, menu days there was supposed to be crab legs/meat but there was none in our pot.... It's 3x's the price of the original one and slightly bigger portion wise but it still seemed a bit pricey for what it was. Tasty, but the price tag wasn't quite worth it. Also ordered an additional lobster and that was priced okay. Potatoes that came with it has a weird chunky sauce on it so sadly that was left uneaten.
Overall experience was great, a couple of misses but regardless we'll be back to try the rest of the...
Read moreThis was both a surprising and disappointing experience. Things did not seem to be running particularly smoothly.
Upon waking in, the hostess did not acknowledge me or my girlfriend. Having worked in customer service for years myself, a simple "I'll be with you in just a moment" would've been perfect since she was busy, but not even meeting our gaze felt rude. Instead, she grabbed some things from behind the podium and walked away, and returned two minutes later, still averting her gaze. We had to greet her for her to say something.
She let us know that the table for our reservation was not yet ready. We waited for 15 minutes before we were seated, though the restaurant was not particularly busy at the time. There were two other parties waiting for tables, who had been waiting since we walked in.
The food quality was all over the place. The drinks were, frankly, awful. The margarita tasted like lemonade mix, and the lavender mojito was acrid and bitter.
The baked clams my girlfriend ordered were very small (about the size of a bottle cap) and mostly bread crumbs. The ceviche I ordered, on the other hand, was delicious.
My main, the lobster ramen, was a mixed bag in and of itself. The broth and noodles were terrific, and the lobster was quite good, but it fell apart at the accoutrements. The "chili tofu" was totally flavorless and somehow cold in the center, and the soft boiled egg was plain and whole rather than the half soy egg one would typically expect in ramen.
Overall, I can't recommend Manna until they find their sea legs. It rings of disorganization that the food quality differs so much between dishes, and that multiple parties must wait for reserved tables even when it's...
Read moreUsed to go to the original Lobster Inn. When I heard it sold, I expected an upscale replacement. The current “Manna” is hardly worthy. The renovations appear to be that they painted the walls white and re did the bar. There is no ambiance, they serve paper napkins and no salt, pepper, hot sauce or candles anywhere.
First of all, a small glass of diet Pepsi was $5. So that was annoying. And all the glasses were small. Get some larger water and beverage glasses. Kinda silly to have to refill water so often bc the glasses are so small.
Ok, for the food:
Shrimp cocktail: Way over cooked. Dry and bland. Poorly cleaned with chunks of vein. Cocktail sauce was minuscule and bland.
Clams casino: clams were the size of a quarter. Just butter and breadcrumbs. Poorly done and minuscule.
Clam chowder w/ bacon. Bland, overly greasy and buttered. Bacon had zero flavor. Needed more clams, celery and potatoes and seasoning badly. Oyster crackers were stale.
Lobster roll: Connecticut style w/ butter and seasoning. Lobster was mushy and slimy. Bun fell apart. Tasted like nothing.
Fish and chips: Undercooked, under seasoned, small portion. Shoestring fries were meh. Tartar sauce was good.
Side of creamed spinach: THE BEST THING ON THE TABLE.
Prices were way too high, food blah. Skip it. I want the old Lobster Inn back. $95 for a splat is a kick in the face. Used to be $40. They don’t even have blue cheese dressing for salads. Gave 2 stars because the waiter was excellent. We didn’t complain that the food was so bad, made the best out of...
