North Sea Tavern — Restaurant in Town of Southampton

If you want a comfortable run down place to enjoy perfectly cold delicious tap beer with happy locals, this is going to rate 5 stars! But I was here for a meal, too. Big mistake! This is not set up to satisfy diners. We both ordered MEDIUM burgers, on special today for only $10. Over 20 minutes later, we are still sitting without lunch. We were the only diners there by the way, but looked like a couple take out orders were given. Bar average busy on this hot summer afternoon. We asked what was happening with our meals and we were told it was coming. Five more minutes of waiting. Finally, our food arrived with nice hot crisp fries and the requested burger toppings. But what happened to the medium burgers? The chef we were told was “ too busy”and messed up the burgers hopelessly. In other words, the chef simply had forgotten about the overcooking burgers. The meat Pattie’s were very dry, and tasteless. How could a professional chef screw up so badly our clearly specified medium cooked burgers? How could a chef with so few customers be overwhelmed and be so underperforming? And on Wednesday Burger special day! The waiter never came back to check on the food by the way, even though we were the only dining guests, just feet away from his bar. I ate all my burger because that is just what I do at 2 pm, no matter what mystery meat is served up! My friend stopped chewing after half of her burger was gone, and for the first time, declined to ask for a doggie bag, as her food was so disappointing. I told the server that I was surprised that a chef could not deliver a cooked burger as was specified, Medium. His answer was that the chef was too busy. Nothing was offered, no apology and nothing comped! Bottom Line: Please frequent the North Sea Tavern for their great brews, but avoid this dive bar for food. So many other restaurants selling burgers in town. 1 Star for the worst burger in the Hamptons, and the underperforming and overwhelmed chef. And 1 Star for the waiter, but who is appears to be excellent bar tender. Will spend my hard earned money at restaurants where chefs and waiters take pride...

After having seen this restaurant many times from delivering food, I decided to eat dinner here. Ordered the fried pickles which were quite good but EXTREMELY overpriced at $16 when there were only maybe 12 pickle slices. If you're going to charge that much, give me a lot more! Ordered 3 sliders with fries for $19. Sliders tasted very good but again, it was very pricey for what it was. Guess this is par for the course in the Hamptons though! First visit and a pleasure. I was driving home to Shelter Island and checking Dinner options. Low and behold, nothing open Monday night that i could make it to. Drive depressed and hungry and spotted lights and cars on left at North Sea Tavern. Best burger in long time, cooked perfectly juicy accompanied by delicious blue cheese side salad with tomatoes, carrots and fresh lettuce. Since it was wing night, had to try buffalo wings.
