Read moreWe have been going to Stone Creek for more than ten years, a few times a year. Our experience has been great -- until now. Yes my wife's Kir Royale was perfect, and yes, my sidecar was crafted as I requested. Yes, the tuna tartare appetizer was wonderful, consistent as usual, and yes, the arugula, beet and goat cheese salad was very good with a salad dressing that was pure art. From there it was similar to a downhill ski race. My wife had the scallops and I had the veal chop. Her dish, which could have been bright and light was way over done with an abundance of cherry tomatoes, butter and overcooked farro that made the dish unnecessarily acidic, heavy, and gluey, the way an amateur would make it, not a chef. My veal chop, priced at $63.00, was a single rib unevenly butchered in a wedge shape (not the traditional double rib and cut to an even thickness), decreasing the volume of the cut considerably and making it impossible to cook at a consistent temperature. The result was that the texture of the veal was disappointing and chewy. This was not executed to the Stone Creek standard at all. All of this left us with the question, what the heck is going on in the kitchen and who is managing the cooks who provided this poor performance? The beignets for dessert helped to sweeten our experience, but we still left feeling sad for this Hampton Bays institution. Will we return? You do not dispense with an old friend if he forgets to call you on your birthday. We will be back, and we will not order the scallops...
Read moreCustomers do not come first in this restaurant. It took me several months to write this review, I generally do not like to write negative reviews. However, I had an experience with Stone Creek Inn in that I have not experienced in many years of eating at all levels of restaurants. My wife and I live in Hampton bays and eat out 6 nights a week. Here is our story: Approximately 2 months ago, my wife made a reservation at Stone Creek Inn. The hostess called back and told us that they are cancelling the reservation, there is a note in our file and the owners are not inviting us back to eat there. Wow. Thinking back… I remembered a very bad experience with service in August 2022. We had a waiter who was so rude that night, We were eating outside in their tent, and he irritated me so much that I went into the restaurant to the host desk and took my receipt and wrote my cell number and asked that the owner call me about my experience. Of course, that never happened. Background information- we have been frequenting this restaurant for 7 years, and probably have been to this restaurant more than 30 times. Is there how you treat a customer? How can one frequent a restaurant where the owner does not care at all about their customers. Good luck to them. I do not recommend supporting an establishment that is so independent that they do not care to find out about a...
