Las Mañanitas — Restaurant in Town of Southeast

I just had my Bridal Shower here on Sunday June 11th, 2023 from 12:00PM- 3:00PM and the overall experience coordinating with Las Mañanitas was truly disappointing. My mother and I booked and gave a deposit to Las Mañanitas on February 20th for my bridal shower based on the great food and beautiful turf grounds. We had about six in person meetings with the Owner, and the Manager within this four month time frame to make sure they understood what was outlined within our agreement. Two weeks before the shower, Luis and Jose contacted my mom to try and have us move the event to an alternate space, since their next party that night (starting at 5:00PM) wanted to set up their decorations in the morning leading up to their event. Booking here for this specific location four months prior, with numerous written, and verbal confirmations that we would be using the turf area, we of course did not want to move our location of our event. We had our own decorations that we wanted to use for the 3 hours and frankly, didn't think it would be right to have staff walking through and setting up for the next party as ours was still going on. We expressed our concerns, at yet another in person meeting and they assured us there, that they understood, and they would wait until 3PM when the shower was over. Additionally, we told them the second our event was over, we will take down our decorations as soon as possible so the next party would have two full hours to set up (the same amount of time that was allocated for our event to set up).

The morning of our event, family and friends showed up at 10:30AM to set up for the 12PM start time. They were stopped by staff saying that they were unaware of our event taking place there. Once they were able to get to the event spot, they saw that they were setting up for that evening's event. Staff was trying to tell my family and friends that my mother told them that it was okay to do so, but knowing our concerns going into this day, they knew that wasn't the case. My family and friends HELPED the staff move all of their decor to the side so they had room to set up for our event.

The entirety of my bridal shower, their staff was on standby watching us, walking through, and trying to move things around to set up for the party. By 2:30, we gave up. They came in and started setting up, causing my guests to feel uncomfortable and start to leave, even though my shower was until 3:00PM. We packed up, and were in the car by 3:10 PM just as we promised. They completely bulldozed us out of our own party.

Never once did we complain. Never once did we ask for a discount or money off our bill. All we wanted was three undisturbed hours that we were contracted, paid for, and fully entitled to. I am utterly disgusted in the Owner, and the Manager on how they run their business.

I never write reviews to businesses, but this situation was too extreme and frankly, unbelievable not to speak about. So this is a fair warning to those thinking about having your next event here, PROCEED...

UPDATE 5/25/25d - I must say, I was disappointed in today's early dinner experience. My friends + I we're off to a good start, but the service went rather downhill.

There were seven of us + we asked for separate checks. We were informed that was alright. However, at the end of our meal, our waiter presented us with one check. We reminded him about our needing separate checks. To which he replied that it was our responsibility to go line by line on the combined check and indicate what each of us had. We attempted it, but it became too confusing due to several of us having ordered the same items.

We explained this to the waiter and asked to refer to the different papers on which he'd taken out orders. He took the check+ walked away. A few minutes later he returned with the very same check stating that it was up to us to label which guest had ordered specific items. When we asked for the manager, the waiter had a change of heart + suddenly started making the necessary motions on the bill.

There were two other unpleasant/unnecessary occurrences.

Bottom line - food was great, service not as much.

Good Lord, I've never seen a Mexican restaurant this large + with this many acres of property! Then again, I never knew that such an upscale Mexican restaurant existed! I drove onto the property + was immediately impressed with the long, very well-manicured driveway. Little did I know that the entire property was this well groomed.

When I approached the end of the driveway, there was a lovely sign pointing the way to the wedding venue area. Again - WHAT?! Since when are Mexican restaurants a wedding venue? Welcome to Las Mañanitas!

I parked + walked to what I thought was the entrance. I was right. What was confusing was that the Maitre d' was at a desk in the middle of an absolutely beautiful outdoor dining patio. Next I went inside the building. I was SO impressed! There was Mexican music playing, the most beautiful + tasteful lighting strung all across the ceiling. This was truly luxurious.

My party was escorted to an indoor/outdoor section of tables. Outdoor, because we had no walls around us. Indoors, because walls were readily available to close should the weather become unpleasant. Fantastic!

After our meal we perused the property. You've got to see it to believe it. The restaurant is completely surrounded by low level mountains. You are completely engulfed in natural beauty. No other buildings anywhere! (Neither commercial nor residential.) Just tier after tier of outdoor seating patios!

Then I saw something I'd never seen before at any restaurant. It was a large statue of the Blessed Virgin, set slightly apart from the eating area + surrounded by beautiful foliage, yet readily accessible as you head back out to the parking lot.
