The Railroad Crossing Diner is a gem of a diner on Route 14 in Dundee, NY. They have options for breakfast that I have never seen for starters. The one that caught my husband's and my eye was the garbage omelette! Ham, sausage, bacon, cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes , spinach and we asked them to throw our corn beef hash in there. Mmmm. My husband requested no mushrooms. I had a 2-egg omelette. My husband had 3. Phenomenal. It was the best omelette my husband I have ever had, and we've tested many lol. There are choices for bread that I have never seen either: raisin, Italian, 12 grain, and all the regulars as well. Fun little, nicely decorated with the railroad theme, and a history of the railroad on the front of the menu cover. The railroad crossing is just feet from the diner. Wonderful hometown, professional, efficient staff and fun regular older customers. One regular older gentleman said to us as we entered "7 minutes from the time you are seated for your meal to come." He was proud of his hometown diner, sipping coffee at the counter. This place was hopping... apparently for hours. The staff were still smiling, pleasant, and got right to taking care of customers, and flipping over tables for the next customers. They keep the place immaculate and tidy, creamers and sugars refilled constantly. This diner really has the diner experience down to a science. You really need to stop in and enjoy the entire experience. Beautiful memories are made there. FYI no cards accepted, cash only...but they do have an ATM machine right there as soon as you enter.

First time here. Heard good things so we planned to meet up with my oldest and his wife. Was not disappointed. I had two eggs, scrambled with sausage links, home fries and English muffin. My girlfriend had French toast. I don't remember what the kids had, but they were happy. Our drinks came in cans, which was cool, but not sure if you get free refills. Still, good homestyle cooking with friendly service.

You just gotta stop here for breakfast when you're in the vicinity. Lots of popular plates on the menu, reasonable pricing, and the food is plentiful and delicious. Staff is friendly; sometimes they're short-staffed, making it slow, so you can practice your patience. I had the three-egg Swiss cheese and mushroom omelette; it was big and one of the better I've ever tasted. Highly recommend.

Based on previous reviews, we stopped here on our way home from a great weekend at Seneca Lake.. We were greeted and told to grab any open table. There is about 10-12 total tables here plus 5-6 seats at a small bar. 15 minutes go by, no servers came to our table. Another couple sits at the table next to us and a server comes to help them and realizes we have not been helped yet. We were then given coffee and told it would be 20-25 min for food as they were backed up. We decided to wait it out, how long could it really take to cook breakfast… 1 hour later, I finally received my 2 eggs sunny side up, 1 sausage patty and toast. There were a couple of other tables that left without eating after waiting 25 min for their food. In the time we spent there we heard many complaints of the wait, & conditions of the bathrooms. One of the patrons had mentioned that the place changed hands about a month or two ago and much of the original staff has left. I presume it was the owner sitting at one of the tables as he went outside to take down the open flag but did not seem to help expedite any service or food orders while...

We went for Sunday Breakfast . I Do Not recommend wasting your time and money at The Railroad Crossing Diner on Route 14 in Dundee, NY. The food was horrible although the name of the omelet was descriptive of the experience. I ordered a Garbage Plate Omelet and the waitress came over and said is everything okay . I said actually no. She quickly responded , is it burnt. ? Yes Mam , yes it’s awful….you knew it was burned! Here we are surrounded by farms and produce is abundant in season. Do not put rotten mushrooms and tomatoes in an omelet and serve it to a customer! Never ever will I order anything named Garbage plate ! They threw the kitchen scraps in it. Two and a half hours later , there’s an awful taste in my mouth. My only regret is a photo to show you stay away from this place ! Beyond awful...
