I will start by stating that we gave them much leeway for this being their first Friday Fish Fry. The atmosphere was simply non-existent, but there is a waterlily view. Actually, the fried fish was very good, Italian Beef not so much, and the French fries that were included were, shall we just say very sparce, with one serving very hard. A blond owner(manager?) came around to check on our satisfaction with the meals. She did a nice job. We had a young, very inexperienced server, which was no surprise. She had to go find out what the Fish Fry included, for us, as apparently no one had bothered to tell her at the start of her shift. She served me wine in a glass with previous lipstick on it, but agreeably took it back when it was pointed out to her. Then, she promised to give us our check with separate totals for the two couples...when our check came with one total, she was flustered, but took it back, we thought, to figure it out for us. To our surprise, her mother, (perhaps the bartender?) came back and berated us for upsetting her thirteen year old daughter (thirteen-the one who served me my wine!!), and apparently tried to blame us because help is scarce in the area. BTW, the bill was incomplete, but after that treatment, we paid it, and left. We are locals, and we won't be back. Not sure this establishment will last when they treat their customers like this.

I belong to the Learning In Retirement ā€œlunch bunchā€ and we go to a new restaurant each month around the Northwoods. There were 14 of us today and there was such a variety of items ordered from the menu so we got to see multiple dishes at our table. The food was really great! But the SERVICE was even BETTER! Jan is amazing at her job and really gives her customers outstanding service. HIGHLY recommend taking a beautiful drive down CtyH (connecting hwys 70 & D) Eagle River/Sugar Camp. Oh 1 more mention: I ordered a piece of ā€œBetterThanS*xā€ cake to go!! It was presented in a ā€œlargeā€ box rather than the small square dessert size (see photo) šŸ˜

Friendly service and accommodating for a Sunday early afternoon visit after the Last Cast had what the owner called a very busy night at the bar the night before! Menu options were thin...waiting on resupply! Hats off to this young single mom to a young teenage boy who was helping mom! Very pleasant conversations! We will be back for a fish fry!

After the crapshow that we experienced tonight, one star seems generous. Our group of 8 called ahead to let them know we would be arriving for dinner. Once we arrived at the restaurant, at 7:06 PM, we were told it would be a 30-45 minute before our table would be ready and that we could wait on the back deck if we would like. We ordered some appetizers and drinks while we waited. There were a few games set up out back to help pass the time, or so we thought. After waiting for 45 minutes, and no appetizers, we were told our table was ready, only to be turned around once we got inside by a waitress stating our table was reserved for another party. So we went back out to wait again. Another 20-30 minutes passed before we were told our table was finally ready. Once inside it took another 20 minutes to get the appetizers we ordered while outside delivered to our table. When they came out, they were mediocre at best. It’s Wisconsin, how do you screw up deep fried cheese curds? After another 15 minutes or so, we flagged down our waitress and placed the order for our food. Nothing special was ordered, just typical bar food. Unfortunately, after waiting for another hour, our food had not even began to be prepared so at 9:00 PM we decided to leave. There were several other tables that follow suit by either getting up and leaving or complaining about the quality of the food and service. Definitely would not recommend this...

Shout out to The Last Cast, formerly the Kathan Inn, on County Rd. H just west of Eagle River and to Angie and Janet and the chef for the warm welcome, GREAT food, and fun environment! We were excited to find some new menu items for up here! We highly recommend the Crab Rangoon "Nachos" made with fried tortilla strips! HUGE helping, which meant I got to take half my Italian Beef sandwich home! The au jus made this sandwich! Just a real WOW! Angie said this is her own recipe that she's been perfecting for years, and it truly is perfect! They've only been open a month, and the tv's will be installed soon, but we know they're going to be successful with this great start! Check them out next time you're looking for a great...
