Moondance Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Sugar Camp

Moondance Bar & Grill is an excellent place! When we arrived there were folks walking out in swim suits and life vests, carrying their to-go drinks, headed across the road to boat landing! Upon entering, we were greeted almost in unison by the 3-4 servers, bartender & cook! Of course we were the only couple there as it was 3pm on Fathers Day Sunday, lunch crowd had just left, and the dinner crowd hadn't come in yet. We had the place to ourselves! Golf on the TV's for my hubby to enjoy, and great music was playing over head while I browsed the decor! Lots of quirky "up north" stuff and old license plates hung above the bar. All very clean and well dusted! They are situated on a small lake, and the view from the bar was very nice! We ordered burgers and fries. They came remarkably fast and hot! THEY WERE AWESOME. Hubby had Black & Blue with a Bourbon sauce that was to-die for! I had Bacon Cheese, which was excellent as well. While talking to the bartender, we learned they serve Prime Rib EVERY NIGHT! They also serve their Fish Fry on both Thursday & Friday. Since it's a tourist area, the locals come on Thursday, and leave Friday Nights to the out of towners, both nights draw a good crowd, but I hear you have to get their early to have a chance at snagging the broiled cod, as it goes fast! We both had a nice cold pint of beer from a local brewery. My Blueberry Train Wheat Ale was wonderful, and the hubby's Amber was equally good. Nice chats with both the bartender, and our waitress. Both were attentive and enjoyable to talk with. We had driven up from the Wausau area, and it was a pleasant ride on a beautiful day. We will certainly plan to come back up for the Fish Fry (on a Thursday!) and then again, another night to try the prime rib. Can't wait! Moondance is definitely not itself. We live across the street from the bar. We love Val (server) and were super happy to see that she was still there, although she was not our server this evening. The food was Ok, I ordered a 1/2 pound burger that definitely wasn't and I ordered bacon on it (would recommend Honey Bear for the 1/2 pound burger, AWESOME). When the food finally came out I was told they didn't do bacon on Friday.... LOL What???? Do you think this fact was relevant to my order, like maybe I would want something else based on this fact??? Nope, just said here ya go and placed it in front of me. We tried to order another glass of wine, the waitress never came back to the table until she brought the food I didn't order. Never got that glass of wine BTW.... terrible service. On top of that, when they brought the bill they charged me for the bacon they apparently don't do on Fridays (again WHAT????). We had read the reviews, and upon the insistence of friends, went to Moondance for the Friday fish fry. I have a couple of questions…where do you people normally eat? Are your taste buds dead? This by far was one of the worst we have ever had! My husband ordered the fried haddock…tasted fishy, and I had the baked…no amount of squeezed lemon or melted butter could moisten this piece!
