June 2024 Back in town from our winter in Florida wanted to stop in and support one of the only good restaurants around. We came in on a Thursday evening without reservations. Melissa was able to seat us despite being short staffed, the staff was fantastic, all smiles and very helpful.im sure they were frustrated trying to keep up with all the customers. They did not show it and all maintained a professional attitude stepping up when needed. It’s obvious they have been well trained and care about the business. We started out with our normal drinks, a Dirty Gin Martini and a Bourbon Old Fashioned sweet, along with Focaccia and baguette. The Marinara served with it is as good as any I’ve had. We followed that with the Eggplant Rolotini appetizer . I think it is the best appetizer I’ve ever had, just delicious. She had her favorite Chicken Parmesan with Vodka Sauce and I ordered the Fettuccine with Clam Sauce surrounded by fresh clams. I ate the whole thing, it was so good. We are so glad to have a restaurant of this caliber in our area. Thanks Melissa you’re doing a great job and it shows. Sept 2023 Stopped in before we head to Florida for the winter and were greeted at the door by Melissa, who has settled in very well to her hospitality role. Loved the whole experience here and the meal was awesome from start to finish. Wife ordered a Gin Martini, dirty and I got a Whiskey Old Fashioned, sweet. Both were on point and a good start to a great night. Got to love a place who can make a good Old Fashioned. We ordered Eggplant Rollatini for our appetizer, wow they were fantastic. They were so good that I wanted to slowly savor the moment, but they were too good and no way to hold back, they were gone in less than 5 minutes. For our entrees she ordered Chicken Parmesan with the Vodka sauce and I ordered Gnocchi with the Bolognese sauce after hearing one of the staff telling the table next to us about the Chef and his travels finding the best Bolognese. The Eggplant Rotolini was so good, I told my wife that the Bolognese had better be really good to top it. It did not disappoint, wow best Bolognese I’ve ever had. Her Chicken Parm was as good, never had a chicken breast so tender and juicy. The Vodka Sauce was great as well. Wow just a great night all around, wait staff is friendly and very knowledgeable while helping decide menu options. This is the real deal Italian and out in the middle of cornfields, what a gem to have nearby. Not another restaurant anywhere near where you can get a meal that good. Thanks Melissa for keeping it alive through everything. Next summer we’re going to have to make it here more often. July 2023 Just had another fantastic meal, never disappoints. I had spaghetti w/ Bolognese sauce which was on point and my wife had Chicken Marsala. It was very good and the chicken breast was tanner and juicy. We’re talking authentic Italian, they always have great daily specials, if you can’t find something good on the menu then you don’t like Italian food. Unfortunately they are no longer making the Coal fired pizza due to lack of employees, but that is a sign of the times. Restaurants are having to adapt to the current employee situation and have to make hard decisions. Good to see Melissa carry on the family tradition, great job. Awesome...
Read moreExtremely rude, intrusive and unprofessional behavior by the owners ( an older grey haired man and a tall middle aged woman w dark straight hair.. they were dining at a central table with others and watching the patrons . Felt like they were watching us !) The man leaned into my space , put his arm around me and touched my back without my permission (I recoiled in disgust and said “don’t touch me”) and also accosted us about what we were doing when we went out to our car for a minute (to toss out trash from our road trip into a garbage can). “What were you doing out back?!” In a demanding voice instead of a “May I help you?” Or “welcome back “ . Food was fine but overpriced for a little town in Wisconsin. We paid in cash and left a 20 percent tip. While I was getting up to leave the table , female owner jumped out of her chair and out of the blue questioned me rudely why one of us had gone out to the parking lot during our meal... I thanked her nicely for the nice meal and explained that it was to toss out trash into a garbage can and that I had to get back on the road. As we exited the restaurant, both the old male and the female owner as well as our waitress Deb all came running out behind us accusing us of not paying our bill! They were aggressive, rude and accusatory: “hey you didn’t pay your bill!” All running after us out the front door ten feet behind us as we walked calmly to our car 20 feet away. Scary and unprofessional. We explained that we paid our bill and as proof I went to find the staff person who had taken our money. She quickly confirmed that indeed we paid the bill. The owners did not apologize for their mistake and were really rude and defensive about it . It was a terrible experience! Almost felt like we were being racially profiled in this all white area or just targeted for not being locals or something .. First time there, stopped in by chance for dinner while driving through the area on an otherwise pleasant weekend trip. Overall: Strange and rude , fishy, suspicious, invasive of our personal space and privacy, followed us out of the restaurant when we went to the car, yelled at us, did not apologize for wrongly accusing us of not paying a bill when it was their mistake.. it was like an accidental stop In the twilight zone.... we will...
Read morefirst off, when we walked in the door the place smelled of "stale beer carpet." second, the owner female named cathy was COMPLETELY rude and didnt welcome us as guests. you could tell that she has everyone that works there on edge that she could go off at any minute. she had the look on her face that she just swallowed a bug. i didnt like her from the get go. next when they seated us, the girl didnt say anything to us, just pointed at the table and said "heres your table." our waitress was very annoying as when we went to look at the menu, she asked if we needed her to read the nightly specials, i said no that we were just going to get a pizza, she stated "i suppose thats ok." like i needed her permission to get a pizza! every table was served bread as a munchie and we were not. so i asked her that, do we need to order pasta to get bread, she says yes but that if we wanted bread it would cost $1.95. REALLY, what a crock. so if you spend $14.00 plus on pasta you get bread, but if you buy a $20.00 pizza you dont? the owner was horrible, the server was horrible, the place smelled bad, and there was nothing but children and unprofessional people working there. while we were still eating, my wifes water glass was empty and our server asked "do you need more water," um hello, we were still eating. the only thing that saved this place from getting 1 star was that the pizza was really good, burnt in a couple spots, but still good. Oh and the big thing, they do not offer a kids menu, NOTHING. um hello, are children not allowed to eat at this place. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! mainly because the owner named Cathy or Kathy was 100% rude and i could tell that she treated her employees like dirt. and service was a joke, A COMPLETE JOKE! thanks for being the closest restaurant to my house, but furthermore, never getting my business again, EVER. and our server never offered my 4 year old son a kidie cup or even a glass of water for himself. its obvious that the servers are more concerned about a tip, than...
