I love this place. Been coming Island Bar & Grill: Where the Beer is Cold and the Vibes Are Hot š»š„
If Jimmy Buffett and Guy Fieri had a baby and raised it on a pontoon boatāIsland Bar & Grill would be its daycare.
First off, the food? Next level. I ordered a burger so juicy it had me questioning all my past relationships. The fries were crispier than my exās texts, and the cheese curds? Letās just say Iād trade my left shoe and half my dignity for another basket.
The music? Absolute bangers. I walked in and immediately felt like I was in a summer montage. By the second chorus, strangers were singing together like it was karaoke night at Margaritaville. I donāt know if it was the band or the rum runners, but I almost proposed to a bartender named Chad (shoutout to Chad for politely declining).
Now letās talk about those views. Water as far as the eye can see, sun shining like itās getting paid by the hour, and boats pulling up like itās a VIP club for people who own Yeti coolers and questionable American flag swimsuits. Honestly, if your sunglasses arenāt reflecting lake light while sipping a Tingala cocktail, are you even living?
And the staff? Angels in tank tops. Quick with a drink, quicker with a joke, and somehow always smilingāeven when some guy in a flamingo shirt (me) asked if they served deep-fried pickles in the shape of Wisconsin. (They donāt, but they should.)
Final verdict? Island Bar & Grill isnāt just a bar. Itās a state of mind. A lakeside, beer-in-hand, cheese-curd-in-mouth, sunburn-on-your-nose kind of paradise. 10/10, would lose my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because driving 30 minutes to get there from McFarland is a journey but then again it's all about the destination. I have had their fish fry over a dozen times and every time it's consistently good, no exceptions, the coleslaw not too sweet not runny, the batter on the deep fried cod is lightly seasoned, not greasy, not too thick more of a tempura batter, the fish is a good solid piece that you can actually pick up and dip in your tartar if you care to, it won't fall apart, it's not slimy, not fishy, not greasy. The baked potato is baked to perfection with quality sour cream, a tasty soft marble rye accompanied by softened butter, a must when trying to spread on the bread, it seriously can't be beat. The owner, Jim has an outgoing personality, good character with a great sense of humor with integrity, he takes pride in his establishment and all the food he serves, the wait staff is on top of it, knowledgeable, observant, experienced and especially friendly, they leave any bad attitudes at home, you are the center of their attention. I am looking forward to his barbecued ribs soon to be offered on Wednesday nights with it a Southwest Mesquite rub that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped by late afternoon for an early dinner. Weāve lived in this general area for over 20 years, thought weād try somewhere different. The weather was nice so we sat outside; very laid back, relaxing atmosphere. We had the artichoke spinach dip with seasoned naan for an appetizer, very good. My wife had the baked cod with home made kettle chips, I had fried with the sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed our meals and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. All the staff was very nice. My only critique would be that I noticed on the menu they charge extra for things like another cup of tarter sauce or pad of butter. Iāve been to my share of Friday fish fries and have never been charged extra for asking my waitress for more tarter sauce. To be clear, we both enjoyed our food, the service, and the general ambience of this place and while another dollar or two for butter and tarter sauce certainly wouldnāt break us, we both found that to be kind...
