I wanted to thank Jake's supper club for ensuring I didnt get a chance to spend my money there. We enjoyed a concert at the Mabel and I called at 4 to make reservations at 8 spoke to Sophia and she told me the kitchen stops sending out food at 8pm. I explained we are going to a concert and she said she would put me down and 8 and tell a manager if there was an issue she would call me. We left the concert a little early we arrived at 7:50 walked in no host, stood there for 6 minutes no one said hican I help you we got the eye avoidance from every employee. Finally at 758 a server comes up and says she will go grab a manager that they stop serving at 8. She disappears never to be seen again. A few minutes later the bartender asks are you 2 looking for a table....... He goes to grab someone never to be seen again. In walks the hostess with a tray full of dirty dishes from clearing tables and she says hello, my wife has the specials card in her hand and asks if they still have prime rib, she says yes; then a manager rudely walks up says we will seat you but our kitchen closed at 8 so we will need to turn and burn. So my wife and I sit down and our server comes out and with the worst attitude (She wanted to go home) takes our drink order. Then asks if we are ready to order or if we want an app (We ordered the prime bites) then she goes grabs our beverages and my wife ordered the Shrimp Fettucinne I ask my wife if she would like a salad or anything as the server didnt ask and she asks the server does it come with a salad "No" the pastas do not come with a salad my wife like pulling teeth asks is there a house salad she can add .... well yes I guess do you have Blue Cheese umm yes. I say I will have the Prime Rib. She flatly and rudely states they dont have Prime Rib. Now lesss than 5 minutes ago they did...We tell her that were were told they did and she trudges off to the kitchen to check. Then came back and matter of factly and triumphantly says nope we ran out. At this point I say ok I will have the ribeye. She scribble it down doesnt ask me about any sides. Then a loud conversation between employees "I thought the Kitchen was closed at 8pm directed at us.".At this point we have had enough and my wife and I tell her that her attitude sucks and we got up and left. I told her thanks for nothing and ruining the evening. Obviously the $150 we were going to spend there wasnt worth them taking care of us. If I hadnt called to ensure this would be OK I might be a lot less upset but to treat people this way on a Sunday and closing the kitchen at 8pm in the middle of summer ??? BTW the website says your open until 11 and does not mention when the...
Read moreI had not been to Jakes in years and was excited to stop by for a bite. I remembered the old days and how good the food price and service were. My how things have changed.
First the good. The food tastes good.
Now the bad.. I ordered several happy hour specials and even mentioned to the waitress while pointing at the little flyer that I was getting the happy hour specials. However there is a catch that wasn't mentioned as my order was being taken. The happy hour specials are only good at the bar. If you see the pictures on here showing drinks and appetizers on special be warned you only get that price if you order it and pay at the bar. This was a shock to me when I got my bill, mentioned I was charged full price for several happy hour specials, and the reason was explained to me. The manager would not budge on this at all.
The portions are tiny for the price. I got the surf and turf. My prime rib was about 30% fat and by the time I cut the fat off I would guess I had 8-9 ounces of meat. They were out of salmon and substituted cod instead. I was told I would get two pieces of cod but got one instead. When I asked about this I was told the cod was the same as the salmon in ounces. Anyone that has ever bought cod and salmon knows there is a fair price difference, but I received no reduction in price or larger portion of cod to balance out he difference.. Again the manager would not budge on this issue.
Overall I would not recommend Jakes Supper Club. I know I won't be returning again after my experience. The specials not being specials unless you have them at the bar resulted in my bill being about $30 higher that I anticipated. The serving sizes were quite small for the price. The food did taste good but you can get much better value at multiple places in the area for about...
Read moreWe had reservations for 6 on Friday night, a small get together. There was a slight snafu with our reservation as it was originally for 4, had been changed to 6, but they didn’t have the change written down when we arrived. However, they were very accommodating and sat the 6 of us at 7:30.
Most in our party ordered a drink (I did not) but I was told that the old-fashioned on special was quite tasty.
I ordered the Dijon salmon with mashed potatoes after a recommendation from our fantastic server. The dinner rolls that came before the meal were perfect— I love bread and these had a crusty exterior and soft interior— my favorite!
The wait on a Friday night was about 45 minutes for our food, but it was very busy so a wait was expected. Our server was great at filling our waters and bringing us more drinks while we waited. I do have to say that it is loud in here. If you plan to carry on conversations, go at an off-time. Several people in our party who have issues with background noise couldn’t hear to participate in table talk.
The salmon was cooked nicely and I thought the potatoes were tasty, but the Dijon cream sauce and wild rice it came on needed more flavoring. I added salt and pepper but it was still somewhat bland. I was hungry, however, and did finish my whole plate. I would order the salmon again, but maybe next time try a different preparation.
I love a good after dinner drink so I was excited to see they had many offerings; I ordered a pink squirrel. It was satisfying, as I was craving it, but I did think it was quite liquid and extremely sweet.
When the bill came I thought it was reasonable for two of us— $53. We would probably visit Jake’s again, perhaps next time at a...
