Went there last night with my wife for a date night. We both ordered the delmonico steak, she order rare, I ordered med rare as we always order our steaks like this. When the food came out her steal looked normal, other than the fat on the steak not being rendered as it should, but my steak on the other hand looked like a brick of charcole.. It was SO FATTY, I cut the whole steak up but I got to one side of the steak and realized it wasn't cooked, it was "blu" meaning it was damn near raw but charcoal looking on the outside. My first thought is "how the heck can you not cook a steak and charcole it at the same time?" I'm speechless but I told the waitress and she made an excuse up for the cook, and kind of acted like she didn't know what to do, but she took the piece that wasn't cooked all the way back to the kitchen to be what looked like to me put in the microwave. All this was odd to me. Usually if your food is cooked wrong they take the whole plate back and redo your order. I didn't eat a good portion of my steak b/c of it being burned beyond recognition and being more fat than meat. They really need to do some retraining in the kitchen. B/c if your going to charge $20 for a steak, your kitchen staff needs to know how to cook it, and your waitresses although nice, need to be retrained on how to deal with these situations. I prolly will not be returning it was just that bad. Not only that but a kid spilled water on the floor a couple tables over and the waitress never cleaned it. I'm bummed b/c I really...
Read moreGood burgers / great wings and a nice view of the lake
Thin / smash style burgers so I get the double. Pines sauce is also a great addition and fries are much better than average. Also very good wings - they're rubbed with a nice seasoning and smoked - then finished in the fryer (most places do one OR the other and doing both really steps them up another level) and they have two sauces to pick from if you want to add a little more flavor (Buffalo or Korean BBQ - both excellent)
For those looking for a view of the lake, several tables have a nice view through some gaps in the trees, so you can feel like you're eating by the lake. And really, only a couple places in the Ithaca area can say that.
My only 'knock' is they don't have a huge beer selection (a few taps) and you have to ask what bottles / cans they have as they don't put up a list. So many great local breweries I wish they had a few more options (they always have a couple though).
also to note - no more 'wait staff' - order food/drinks at the bar and go find a place to sit - they will call your name out, so it helps to not go too far until you...
Read moreUsed to have a 5 star review, but unfortunately I think they have gone down hill a little. The bartender/ server seemed angry as everyone was coming in. I ordered a rare burger and it came out looking like medium well (I didn't care enough to send it back or anything, but others may care more). I had a side of salad with Italian dressing, and their dressing may as well have just been olive oil. I am assuming they just make a large batch and then pour into the plastic containers without bothering to mix it first. There is nothing wrong per se with Glenwood Pines, but the service has gotten worse (servers also don't actually serve anymore, you have to go up to get your little to go containers and plastic cups), the food hasn't gotten any better, and the prices have gone up (which is understandable). Value overall now is just simply worse, and the kitchen is less consistent. Luckily these are relatively easy issues to solve. Hope to bring my review back to 5 stars after...
