If I was rating the food alone I would have given them 5 stars but the service was terrible… This was my first time to this restaurant and I came in from out of town over an hour and a half away. We had a group of 7 for a friends birthday. I was the first one that arrived and when I came in and approached the desk there was a sign that said, “please wait to be seated” however I was not initially greeted at all. So I told them, “I have a reservation under so and so” they told me they didn’t take reservations. As they were telling me this two other people from the party walked in. I told them ok. And that it we needed a table of 7. They told us it would be a 45 minute wait. Here’s where it gets interesting…. There was a man that came in just behind me, he had a party of 6 and somehow, and without reason, he was placed on their seating/call list before me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said maybe their whole party was present and that was why. However they were not and when they were called a woman stated they had actually gone home and had to come back…. We waited almost the entire 45 minutes before complaining to staff and pointing out that 4 other parties of 6/7 people had come in and been seated before us WHILE we had all been present and waiting directly infront of them in the lobby. It serious just felt like we were being ignored for no good reason at all. Another manager that had just come on was brought over and magically arrangements were made immediately. After that things were very smooth that male manager (I don’t know his name) made a point to swing by and make sure things were ok throughout our meal. The wait staff did everything they could to make it a pleasant experience. Drinks were brought quickly orders taken and brought quickly everything seemed pretty expedited (I assume because of the incident that lead to) we tipped our server, Victor, well. The hostess may have sucked but our server was great. Would I go back? I don’t know. The food was good but for a 45 (unnecessary wait) we could have easily left and gone somewhere else that would have happily taken our money and treated us better. I feel bad for all the people the hostess...

Got take out. Good points:

  1. they are open until 10 pm in an area where a lot of places close at 8 pm.
  2. ordered takeout and it was fast.
  3. big portions that were reasonably priced.
  4. the hostess was very kind and gave recommendations
  5. they have a kids menu
  6. my partner said the actual ice cream inside the fried ice cream was super good.
  7. chori fries were pretty decent. A little spicy but very manageable (for me)

Knowledge points:

  1. quesadillas appeared to be made with Swiss cheese or something???
  2. the steak in my steak quesadilla was very generous (there was a lot of it) but it was a little chewy and a bit well done for my taste.
  3. the “fried” ice cream appeared to be ice cream rolled in cornflakes. I think it’s supposed to be ice cream covered in pound cake and cornflakes then deep fried. It was still pretty good regardless.
  4. the churros were pretty good. Undercooked but not hard. Very very sugary.
  5. the horchata was extremely generous (large size). It was much sweeter than I thought it would be, coming from having horchata from locals in NYC…
  6. it’s a bit of a mystery if the shrimp in the ceviche is raw or cooked so I couldn’t order it. Normally I’d love to eat raw shrimp but I can’t eat raw seafood right now so just mentioning this here for future customers

They were very kind here. I would really like to give five stars but I just can’t bring myself to, sorry. Thank you for being open so late?

With tip, it was about $70 for two adults and one kid, but we definitely had food leftover. I tipped $5. So without tip it was about $65. I wasn’t sure how people up here too for takeout so I hope...

Such a disappointment. After eating here previously I never thought the food would be served incorrectly and then not having it done right the second time. My dinner the oil used tasted old and it was terrible. It was difficult to eat with several flies but that i know can happen... however when my son pointed out the dust and so many bugs on the window sill I could not and would not eat any longer. At that point I really started to look around and saw how filthy things were. From the tops of the lights covered in dust to the cob webs. The list just went on. I mentioned it to the waitress and showed her the bugs and stated we would be leaving ... she was amazing and went above and beyond ...only good part of our meal. She stated she would tell the owner or manager but nobody ever came to speak with us. I got a to go box only to put the food for the dog . Paid the bill. Tipped the waitress and left knowing I'll never return and I won't go to any other one of these as I believe they're are several not just in bath. It's imperative you do a daily cleaning in your restaurant and a deep clean regularly. It's obvious just with the cob webs and dead bugs this is not being done. That is not a way to get new customers to return. Others that once enjoyed this establishment won't be back.. It's a very good way to loose business.I personally would recommend finding a different...

Casa Mezcal is a hidden gem in the Bath/Hammondsport area! Whenever I’m in town for work, this is my go-to spot for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. The nachos are absolutely incredible—crispy, loaded, and full of flavor. My personal favorite is the steak and cheese burrito, which is always perfectly seasoned and satisfying. The service here is top-notch. No matter how busy they are (and they’re almost always packed), the staff is attentive, friendly, and quick. From everything I’ve seen, the facility is very clean—from the dining tables to the bathrooms, which says a lot about how much they care about the customer experience. The staff is also some of the friendliest around—so much so that I once saw them take a picture off the wall and give it to a customer. Not sure if that was exceptional hospitality or just a strong night of tequila, but either way, it speaks to how much they go above and beyond! The atmosphere is lively, the décor is fun, and the mezcal cocktails are fantastic. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food in the area, Casa Mezcal is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Update 01-11-24: Been awhile since we have reviewed. Why? 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ and nothing has changed! If you've been here, you know. If you haven't, you must! I'm adding a few pics to the mix for my update today. Man I love this end of town! Great food, super service. Update: We are becoming regulars. Our servers so far have been Maddy, Tanya and Victor. They are so good, and the food is great, but it is the servers that bring us back. Between Casa and Maybe Baby, we eat on this end of town a lot! Mmmm... Made our second visit. Party of 13 served by Maddy only! She got everything correct and ran full speed. Wow! Everyone in our group said the same thing... Awesome. Maddy is incredible. Did see a negative review saying peppers and onions weren't cooked. Ha! Clearly can see in the pic the onions are caramelized pretty nicely... Sheesh My first review as they were just opening got a very good 4 ⭐: New, different, very busy. I have a feeling my rating will go up. Food was good, server was great. We will be going back. Nice addition to the area!!!

Caza Mescal: A Must-Visit for Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Bath, NY If you’re a fan of authentic Mexican food, Caza Mescal in Bath, NY, is an absolute must-visit. This vibrant spot delivers a true taste of Mexico, with an extensive menu that doesn’t miss a beat—from appetizers to desserts. Having tried nearly everything on their menu, I can confidently say their flavors are unmatched, with each dish crafted to perfection. And don’t skip the desserts—they’re the perfect way to cap off a great meal! One tip: this place is very popular and can get crowded quickly. I recommend planning your visit either early or later in the evening to enjoy a more relaxed experience. Caza Mescal is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of authentic Mexican cuisine that food lovers will not want to miss. Highly recommended!
