While we have lived in the area for over 25 years, and have seen the Hilltop change hands several times in that time, this will be the last time we go to the Hilltop under this ownership. The owner (s) (Jay and ???) are rude to their employees and that just isn't right. I am surprised to see the same face twice or more there, just for how they have treated staff in the past. We first went after they opened under the new ownership. It was just good enough, but we realize that all new restaurants are not perfect in the beginning. Well, it's been over a year now, and we have been back on various occasions, for dinner or just appetizers. Dinners have been subpar, but I will say that the appetizers (cheese curds) and wings are good. However, the wings are on the smaller size. We recently went in for some burgers and they were not cooked to medium rare, but more like medium-medium well (NO PINK CENTER). What prompted me to finally write the review is we had ordered a pizza to go. There was barely any pizza sauce on it, and coming out of the oven, you cannot say that the dough soaked it all up. It was so dry and the sauce that was on it, wasn't spread to the edges of the pizza crust, there was close to an inch without sauce from the edges. When there are very many choices right within 15 miles of Tichigan (Big Bend, Rochester, Wind Lake, Mukwonago), we will not be coming back here until it changes ownership, again. When I did read previous reviews & comments from the owner, I see he or she wrote "Our cooks are from Milwaukee". What does that even mean? That only good cooks or chefs come from Milwaukee? We have had decent meals all over Wisconsin, and pretty sure, they're cooks are not all...
Read moreLet me begin by saying the service was great. The food was very good, and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress Mandy, Maddie, maybe Madison? 🤷🏻♂️ was very nice, and despite the dining room of the restaurant being nearly full, she didn’t seem to skip a beat. The only time I saw her flustered was when some older guy resembling crusty the clown stopped her when she was on the way back to our table. Couldn’t hear everything, but managed to make out “whose joint is this?”, and something like “If you don’t like it………”. You could tell she was uncomfortable and wanted to get to our table. Then it sounded like he told her “they can wait, I’m the owner right?” I couldn’t believe it. If he was the owner why would he stop his waitress just to hear her tell him he’s the owner. It was bizarre. If that’s a regular occurrence, I can’t see why anyone would want to work there. Either way, the food was great. The waitress was great. Really everything was great besides the high strung “owner?” stopping our waitress from serving us because “we can wait”. Very unprofessional. I’m sure it was uncomfortable for the waitress. I sure wouldn’t want to have to provide affirmations to the boss mid task. Other than that, we...
Read moreA young man was our very inattentive server for our first time here, sadly. We asked for water when he delivered our beer, forever later 1 glass of water. Tried flagging him down several times, making eye contact and waving, and seemed like we were invisible. 40+ minutes after placing our food order our food was delivered. Wife ordered the mess(?) (appetizer) fries covered in 2 types of meat, cheese sauce, peppers. I ordered the brisket dinner. It was the exact same size as my wife’s appetizer she ordered for her meal, and was missing just about everything described in the menu. This is in addition to it being cold. It was cold (room temperature) Mac with some chopped brisket on top, which was also cold. Even the plate-ware was cold. The bite I had tasted good, but after waiting over 40 minutes for my meal, I wasn’t about to wait another 40 to have it redone. Perhaps if the waiter had been more attentive it wouldn’t have, as I’ll assume, sat in the kitchen waiting to be delivered for 30 minutes. Will...
