Very cute diner that my husband and I wanted to have breakfast at while in the area. Looked Star Diner up on Google to get reviews and we were excited to have pancakes and a waffle. I will start off with positive thoughts, the coffee was excellent and was consistently filled and the diner was very clean. I ordered a pecan waffle with bacon and my husband ordered the short stack of pancakes with sausage links. My pecan waffle was just a plain waffle with a "few" pecans thrown on top. The pecans should have been mixed in the batter. The waffle itself was not cooked properly and there was raw batter inside. The bacon was overly cooked and was basically crumbled into pieces. My husband's pancakes were undercooked as well. Completely uneatable food. The food was so disappointing that it was if we paid the $25 bill for coffee. The most disappointing part of breakfast was the cold and unfriendly personality of our waitress Cait. She has no smile on her face and truly seemed like she did not want to be there. My husband and I travel and we love going to diners for the down home feel and great food. Star Diner was definitely a disappointment! We will not go back as we are always...
Read moreWe arrived at 1pm on a Sunday knowing that they closed at 2. The server gave us our menus and took our drink orders saying hardly anything. When we gave her our food order, she seemed to be disinterested. At 1:15 several more customers came in and the servers were sure to inform them that the place closed at 2. I heard the servers complaining as more people came in. I’m thinking that if you close at 2, you accept customers until that time and maybe hang a ‘closed’ sign out at 2. After all, food service is your business. While we were seated, another server took condiments from our table as well as others to reload/ resupply. Couldn’t that be done once closed? Also during this time the bathroom doors were open and I’m pretty sure they were being cleaned. I can understand a server having a bad day and not being overly chatty, but it was all three servers that were taking issue with customers arriving while they were open. The food was good, but I was left feeling that the staff didn’t want to be there. I like diners because of the old timey feel and typically good food. However we won’t be returning...
Read morePlenty of parking. At first glance this place looks like a hole in the wall. The sign is missing a letter in the name. It's next to some kinda abandoned looking motel. The diner has 8 booths and 4 tables. Not a really big place. While we were here. They had a steady crowd coming and going the whole time. You can't beat the prices on the menu. They have a small make your own salad bar available as a side. I ordered the 8oz prime rib sandwich. My friend had the paty melt. The prime rib sandwich was ok. It didn't have a lot of seasoning. Which I didn't mind I had asked for a side of mayo which I utilized with it. My friends Patty melt came with a thousand island dressing on it. They said it was actually a good combo on the melt and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The food came out quickly. Overall I was surprised by this place. Will be back again sometime. Going to try the breakfast next time. Which is available to order all day. It's not much to look at in the inside. It's a bit worn and older/outdated. However you Definitely can't beat the prices this place...
