Steiner's General Store & Diner — Restaurant in Town of Watertown

Decided to try this place for a game day. Ordered some poutine, wings, a sandwich and pizza to go. We ordered online and set up to pick up. Upon walking into the place, there were two people working behind the counter, looked like they were preparing some food. I didn’t want to seem pushy so I waited. Finally after about 10 mins (no one else being waited on during time) I was finally approached and given food. Seems they should watch who comes in and out a bit more. When I order food like this, the pizza is usually the staple and what repeat business is based around. Sadly, I would give the pizza about a 3 out of 10. It was almost like a frozen pizza prepared. It was bland and boring. We ordered two pizzas. Both the same. It’s a shame, the poutine was good even after driving it 10 mins home. The wings weren’t bad, I would eat them again definitely if the pizza was better. The sandwich had a good variety of meat, but once again kinda bland. If the pizza were better, I would go back because the other food wasn’t bad. But when you have Cam’s, Stefano’s, etc available I can’t ruin another day of football...

Sadly the last three times I ha s been their to order food I felt like a total inconvenience for them. Either to late or to early. Got mad at me because they washed their slicer and I wanted cheddar on a burger. They didn't have that as an option so I said I would buy a quarter pound out the deli and they could use that. Well that was an awful inconvenience. Then the next time they shut the fryer down several hours before they opened. And today couldn't get a burger because they were still cooking breakfast. Which is fine but some people work over nights so at 10 1030 they want a meal. That is not the place to go. Although the few meals I was able to get were very good ill spend my money else were. Places that want my business. I don't like paying to be a burden. Sorry for bothering the staff it won't happen again. And I will make sure to let all the construction crew in lowville that I referred their to know they are bothered by us. The cottage in will love and embrace the extra customers. Nice little operation in Burrville. ... The pepperoni pizza was bland, honestly. One member of our party noted an uneven distribution of the pepperoni (valid complaint), while another liked the texture of the crust, which certainly had a nice flakiness to it. I wish there had been shakers provided to add oregano, grated cheese or pepper flakes. The pie just needed more zest. The sweet and mild wing sauce was a big hit with one member of our group. It was a good blend of heat and maple. I didn't try any appetizers, but there seems to be a good selection. Fountain drinks were not an option; I like to know I can get a free refill if I need one, so that was one minor...
