Based on reviews and location, we decided "On The Rocks" would be a good spot for a once in a lifetime 30-Year retirement celebration, with family driving-in from hours away. I notified the restaurant in advance that this was a retirement celebration so they knew of the importance. We could not have been more wronged. As a Level-6 reviewer, I am known for my fair and mostly good reviews. I am sorry to say, this is NOT a good review.
Although drinks and appetizers arrived quickly, that is where the good news ended. Our server took our food orders and WE WAITED NEARLY TWO HOURS for food to arrive at our table, and that was only half of our order. The only reason that half of the order came out was due to my walking to the kitchen doors and informing our server we would leave in five minutes if our food was not served to us. The restaurant was not full, and we felt terrible for another customer (a woman with a baby and her husband) who also experienced a two hour wait! Her one-star review is also contained on this restaurant's page.
Our server never cleared the dirty appetizer plates from our table, inviting flies to circle around. I brought them to the dirty dish bins outside the kitchen myself, telling the server, "I took care of this for you". She did not even say sorry or thank you.
The chicken and fries were not even warm. The farmhouse burger and french onion burger (with hardly any onions) were underdone and the rolls were dry. Same with the french dip when it eventually arrived, and the short rib grilled cheese was so dry I needed to ask for some kind of sauce to make it edible. THE SERVER WAS ABSENT MOST OF THE TIME, and I needed to regularly find her to ask for water, drink refills and for the status of our food order.
NO COMP OR EVEN SO MUCH AS AN APOLOGY from the owner or senior staff for the poor service, excessive wait time, and lack luster food was given to us by this establishment. We were charged full price! It is normal for an owner or member of the senior staff or management of a respectable establishment to approach the table when things go horribly wrong as they did for us. We received no such visit, showing the total lack of customer respect by this restaurant's management! Also take note that the owner has only responded to positive reviews and not to the negative ones. No remorse for poor service.
Eating at "On The Rocks" was the poorest dining experience we have ever had! What was to be a happy and pleasant once-in-a-lifetime retirement celebration was ruined by this poorly run establishment. The name for this eatery is suitable, as their ability to adequately service their customers is certainly on the rocks like a ship wreck!

Read moreI honestly wanted to like this place more. But it just wasn't anything special. What first worried me was that the parking lot was empty as we were pulling in around 4:50ish on a Saturday. There was only 1 other couple in their besides us.
Anyways we ordered our drinks, apps, and meal at the same time. We ordered two waters and two beers. Our server (who was very nice) was only 17 and informed us she couldn't serve us alcohol so we had to wait for the owner to get free. It was about 8 minutes before we got our beers, but the server could have brought us our waters at least. They had forgotten about the waters and we had to ask for them again.
It took a half hour to get our apps, a bowl of French onion soup, and an egg roll. The egg roll was fine, nothing to rave about but fine. The French onion soup had raw onions in it, they needed at least another ten minutes of cooking time to properly caramelize.
What I couldn't believe is that after waiting a half hour for the apps, we were trying to eat and literally two minutes later they brought out our main dishes. Like honestly, can you give us 5 minutes to get into our apps? So now our small table was filled up with plates.
The burgers that we got were good, cooked right and had decent flavor, but I was hoping for more fries on the side. It was a little metal cup on the side of the plate with fries in it.
What did it for me was at the end when the owner came over to ask how everything was, we told her the soup wasn't right and the onions were still crunchy. She said she would take them off the bill, but then when she brought our bill 2 minutes later it was still on there. What was even more surprising about the bill, I asked for lettuce and tomato on my burger...and got charged .50 for the lettuce. For real? .50 for lettuce!?
Anyways the food was ok, but too many little issues throughout our night, and the restaurant itself is very plain and really nothing special. There's just no...
Read moreI do not recommend at all. We ordered take out a few weeks ago. They had told me 25 minutes. I got there in 35-40 minutes and they hadn’t even started our food yet. I had my baby with me so we waited outside. They didn’t even let me know when it was ready and it took another half an hour. Yesterday we decided to go and try to sit down because my husband really liked his sandwich. We waited forever for our food. We ordered the Bavarian pretzels and asked for the mustard and beer cheese. They came with just mustard so we asked for the cheese. Had to ask for it three times before we got it, at which point the pretzels were cold. Then I ordered the French dip and asked for a side of horse radish. Instead I got a roast beef horse radish sandwich. The server admittedly messed up, which I respect, said she would get me the French dip. My husband ate because I was trying to get the baby to sleep since he was over it at this point since we were already there for hours. So my husband finished eating and the French dip still wasn’t out. I ate half the sandwich (which was slathered in horse radish) and French dip still wasn’t out. The server came to bring the check and I let her know I never got it and she finally went and got it but I didn’t even want it at that point. My husbands sandwich wasn’t good this time. He barely ate it. The fries tasted like fish and were terrible. We had to get up to ask for drinks multiple times. We were not offered a discount either time. Honestly, my roast beef sandwich ended up being pretty good. Or maybe I was just starving at that point. The cheese curds with Texas petal sauce were also good. But we definitely won’t...
