My Fiance and I stopped with our 1 year old son while on a camping trip. She ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs, I got the 4th lake Combo with Ribs, Brisket, Baked Beans, and Coleslaw, and a kids portion of pulled pork and Fries. Our server never asked us if we needed a high chair, which wasn't a big deal, but would have been nice. We were offered our kids meal to be served as soon as it was "cooked", which we said yes to. It arrived within 10 minutes of ordering, lukewarm and soggy fries like it was just microwaved. Both our servings of ribs were so dry they needed to be sawn through with a steak knife to separate the bones. My serving of brisket was pale gray in color, incorrectly cut (making half of it tough), and the 2 slices were about 1/4 inch thick and mostly fat. The baked beans were not cooked all the way and watery, and the Coleslaw was made with blue cheese? We wont even talk about the garlic bread.... I would have gladly complained to a server. Except not a single person came to check on us after our meal was served. Definitely not worth the 98.00 bill that we were given. Maybe their bugers and sandwiches are better items to get, but their BBQ certainly leaves alot...
Read moreThis evening, we went to Mountainside Smokehouse & Grill and ordered the Fulton Chain Combo, which the menu says serves up to three people. It came with a half rack of St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, turkey, brisket, and chicken. For sides, we ordered coleslaw and potato casserole. It also came with cornbread and garlic toast.
Unfortunately, nothing tasted fresh. The cornbread was dry and stale, and the garlic toast was equally dry with hardly any garlic flavor. The coleslaw had a grey tint, the potato casserole was bland, and the side portions were small. Our bread basket included just one tiny piece of cornbread for a combo meant for multiple people.
The meats were just bland and disappointing. The ribs were not tender, the brisket was grey, and the turkey was extremely dry. For chicken, we received only one wing that tasted “off.” The pulled pork was mushy and watery. To top it off, they only offered two barbecue sauces—mild or hot—which felt very limited for a smokehouse.
Overall, it was a...
Read moreMy wife and I have been coming here for years, and this year we noticed some changes that were not good. Her chicken was kind of bland, even after adding some BBQ sauce to it, and there was very little smoke flavoring to it. I had the brisket, and while it was cooked very well, it was extremely bland, almost as if the meat went into the smoker with no seasoning at all. Finally, the cole slaw. When we first had it, there were chunks of blue cheese in the cole slaw and it was slamming. This time around, no chunks of blue cheese, and there was more celery seed in the slaw than anything else. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't what I had expected.
Otherwise though, my ribs were stellar, her pulled pork was amazing (her words not mine), and our sons were happy with their meals. We were seated right away, and it wasn't a long wait for the food, we got there a little after 5pm, so if you go later, your...
