We went here with a group of 6 for dinner on a Sunday evening. It was busy and they had live music but we were able to be seated inside right away. At first everything seemed fine. The waitress was nice and seemed on top of things. She asked if we would like the kids food out early and we said sure if it was possible. She said no problem. We got our drinks after about 20 min along with some appetizers, which were fine.
After about another hour and still no food we noticed several larger tables which were seated after us had gotten their meals. We politely mentioned this to our waitress who tried to reassure us that our food would be coming. Then we noticed people who were seated after we had put our orders in getting their food and we still didn't have anything. So we flagged down a different waitress and asked her nicely if their was a manager or someone we could talk to. She said no, and said she check on our food. After about another 10 minutes went by we got our waitresses attention and she apologized but said she had no good explanation of what had happened. This was over an hour and a half after we had been seated. We politely said we would either like our food or our bill to this point as it was now nearly 7:15 and we had ordered shortly after 5:30. About 5 minutes later our food started to come out.
However, it came out in three waves spread out over the next 25 minutes. My daughters pizza was still cold, as in uncooked in the middle. The next wave came out about 10 minutes after, at which point they told me my fish sandwich would still be a bit. After about 15 minutes when everyone else had finished they brought me my fish sandwich. That's when things really got interesting.
A very intoxicated man entered the bar and one of the waitresses intercepted him and told one of the others to get the manager. She said the police had already taken him home once. The owner or manager reacted quickly to the man and the police responded promptly. I thought how convienent that a manager is...
Read morePros: boat tie up, live music some nights, nice location Cons: Slooooow service, waitresses who don't know the drink or food specials, no butter for my bread, canned soda which i waited over 20 mins for only for her to bring me the wrong soda, no lemons served with my fish fry, luke warm food, fried pickles cut so thick if you bite into them all the breading falls off, refused to server my mom a glass of tap water after she was drinking. Instead told us they only had bottled water.
The cherry on top...she brought our fish fry out and asked if someone wasn't going to eat bread because only 4 of 5 plates had bread. I asked if there was a bread shortage because each plate you pay for comes with bread.. she said no shortage, she just decided that not all people want bread so she doesn't give everyone bread. My aunt had to awkwardly hand me her bread since I didn't have any. Weird that the meal comes with bread and im paying for bread but you're over here playing bread...
Read moreLooking for a good place for a Friday fish fry on a recent trip to Shawano, I discovered this place. After reading reviews, decided to give The Lighthouse a try. Reviews definitely right for this place! One of the best fish fry’s ever! We try various places based on reviews and many have disappointed. We are considering a trip back to Shawano just to stop in here for Friday perch plate.
Update: went back the following weekend on Sunday & had a totally different experience. This time when we asked for water we were told they only had BOTTLED water available (at a charge). Ordered two hamburgers that were served raw, not just pink. They were raw. Fries were cold. Sent both orders back. Second time around one was good but one was pink inside. Edible but not well done...
