Always have heard great things about this place and we as a family love to eat out. However, we have dined in here twice and both times have been unpleasant experiences. This second time it seemed like the waitress was inexperienced and it also seemed everything was not available. Got munchie platter for an appetizer and the fried mushrooms smelled and tasted disgusting in the basket.. The biggest disappointment is that I havebnever been to a diner and been told you weren't able to customize any meal. Not everyone likes the same flavors and a restaurant of all places should know this. So we did confirm they would be willing to make a fretta without onions and peppers for my wife. Problem was when they brought out both my wife's and my frettas they were both full of peppers and onions. Wife had them take it off the bill, but no apology to the woman who loves dining out and ended out with no meal. Now I like peppers, but that should not be the star of the dish and it was super overwhelming. Not sure if the cook is new, but could definitely use some extra training. My 8 year old daughter also was dying for soup extremely bad and at first we were told they had put it away for the night. They did however decide to grab a cup and heat it up for her so that was nice, but just seemed they could have made a better experience by just offering it without the extra drama to begin with. Her hot dog also says it was Hoffman, however it was a skinny little hot dog (definitely not Hoffman). The last unpleasant experience was the large group of people being allowed to go up and pay without masks despite the sign walking in saying they were required for entry. These same people (6 people total) decided it was okay to smoke on the front steps as we were leaving and were standing right outside the front door. Even my 9 year old son had enough smarts to ask why they weren't wearing masks and why they were smoking right outside the door. So to make a long story short, we will not be going back to this place again. Kind of sad since we hate having to drive 20-30mins away to get a good bite. I typically do not like to do reviews, and by no means do I want to bash a place of local business especially in times like this. However, I see it as educating the owner of this establishment, and if it were me I would be happy to have an honest customer speak up so that i could possibly address...
Read moreWe stopped in well after the lunch rush was over, around 2:30. Many tables had not been reset but we found a clean one. The waitress was super friendly and very honest. I asked if I should go with the corned beef hash, sausage with peppers and onions or the Fretta. She said the hash was canned and the sausage didn't come with anything else. She said the Fretta was very popular and filling. That's what I went with. My Wife ordered the roast beef au jus. The food came out fairly quickly. My Wife's lunch looked better than mine BUT looks were deceiving. The roast beef had an off flavor, almost like being freezer burnt, but they say they never use frozen and it was just fresh sliced. So, either the meat picked up flavor in the refrigerator or from something on the grill it was cooked on. The bun was twice the size of the amount of meat and the bun was burnt. The au jus was very salty. With all this, one bite and she was done. Now, mine looked like a hot mess. I added cheddar to the potato, vegetable, meat and egg mix. It did not look very appetizing. But, I dug in. The veggies all tasted fresh and were cooked properly. They were hot and crispy. The potatoes were cut in little cubes and also were crispy outside but soft inside. The sausage was a little bland and I would have liked that to have some crispness as well but it was only 1 of the 7 ingredients not cooked how I liked it. Usually, I put a bunch of salt and pepper on these types of dishes but I didn't need to. It was well seasoned. It was very filling and I was glad I only ordered the half size. I couldn't finish it all. The waitress said many people order the full size to have leftovers because it heats up so well at home. I think I would agree. The waitress came back to check on us and saw that my Wife was not eating. She asked if everything was okay. We told her and she offered to have it remade or to get the menu so my Wife could find something else. She declined and just ate my sourdough toast, which was excellent. She doesn't like sausage so she didn't help me finish my meal. The waitress did not charge us for the roast beef and was very apologetic. We told her it wasn't her fault and we tipped her based on what the full value of the check would have been. We always give places a second chance so we will probably eat there again sometime. I hope the staff is still just...
Read moreParty of 4, went for lunch, no wait, Service: was greeted upon entering, very welcoming, seat yourself style, very friendly wait staff, service was punctual and attentive! Atmosphere: Family restaurant, kid friendly, placemats had puzzles/games. Seating options were booths, table & chairs, or barstools. We picked a booth. Overhead music played a pop music station variety. Food: Italian Wedding Soup and Fresh Tossed Salad both served before main dishes. Both were delicious, perfect temperature for soup (crackers with it) and salad was served with dressing separate on side. Large portion for Loaded Fries! Buffalo Chicken Wrap comes with dressing inside of wrap, my party's choice was bleu cheese. It also comes with a side of plain chips. Was delicious. Mashed potatoes come with gravy on them so if you want no gravy or on the side just let them know when ordering. The Mixed Munchie Basket had waffle fries, breaded mushrooms, breaded zucchini sticks, and breaded cauliflower. I chose bleu cheese for dipping sauce. Taste was what I'd expected for a breaded basket. Was good but nothing unique. All the food was very good! I'm only giving 4 stars as lunch entree's lacked Vegetarian options besides grilled cheese. A veggie burger or portabella option would've been great. Overall, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND making this one of your dining stops, if your...
