Having been a regular, on and off season, I can say the food is decent for what they charge. As often as not, I suggest them place to others looking for a rustic breakfast.
Today, I was vexed by their customer service. Upon arrival, we were told it was āfirst come, first serveā only and there was a twenty minute wait. I was okay with that, as there were an other couples waiting as well.
As twenty minutes became over an hour, we watched as they kept giving seats to groups walking in without any reservations and immediately seating them, meanwhile not a single couple had been moved in that whole time. An older couple had been there in the cold waiting for about an hour and a half. One couple went in to say they were leaving and were quickly seated. It was at this point that we left, along with several other customers.
If Rathbunās doesnāt want local and repeat business, then that is their choice and their loss. Unless youāre in a group, donāt bother trying to get in. I will be suggesting other local gems for ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming here for years and just lately seen a huge difference in waitress attitudes, food quality and portion sizes, last Saturday was my last time visiting Rathbuns, my breakfast came out and as the waitress put my plate in front of me I was shocked, 9 pieces of home fries! I looked at her expecting her to tell me the rest would be out and she just turned and walked away , I looked on the floor from me to the kitchen expecting to see a trail of my missing home fries but nothing, then I noticed, the once thick cut home made French toast bread was about the size of average sandwich bread from a package , I wait to bring this to a waitress attention but never seen her one more time only to drop a check in front of me without saying a word and walking away.. I was shocked how one of my favorite places to eat breakfast has completely destroyed any thought of coming back , I guess itās back to the Silo to fight the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here a few times. Maple syrup is great. Pancakes are the best bet, in my opinion. Menu is limited to the breakfast basics - nothing fancy (i.e. basic eggs available but no omelets). I really did not enjoy the waffle I had yesterday. The waffle had a bitter taste, like someone screwed-up the baking soda or powder when preparing the batter. The waffle was also smaller and thinner than a traditional waffle. I would have been hungry if I hadn't ordered scrambled eggs and homefries with it. Eggs were fine. Homefries were dry and most likely not hand-cut and prepared. The place has a unique ambiance, so if you want to see a working sugar house, get some syrup, and have pancakes all in one stop, it's a good bet. If you want something other than pancakes that's better than what you can whip-up at home, there are better options for breakfast in the area. Service was...
