The other reviews seems to be spot on regarding this gem in the middle of somewhere. I go here for their excellent prime rib dinner on Saturdays after a good paddle or trout fishing excursion on the Kickapoo River or its tributaries. The Prime Rib is slightly cheaper than it would be in a major city, and be sure not to go overboard! The smallest cut they serve is still huge, and I rarely see anyone actually finish the bigger cuts. They don't expect it to be so big and/or don't believe me when I warn them. They have a salad bar that comes with the prime rib which includes some pasta salads, fruits, and desserts (which you can get for $5 by itself). Add a roll and choice of potato (the cheesy potatoes are excellent if available) and you have a huge meal. They start serving the prime rib at 5pm on Saturdays until it is exhausted. I hear the Sunday chicken is great, but I have not had it so far. The Friday Fish Fry is also excellent - good portions for a reasonable price. About the only thing that prevents perfection is that they do not have soft drinks on tap - you can only get them by the can.
Lastly, drinks are usually strong and reasonably priced, so saddle up to the bar after canoeing or kayaking all day. No need to dress up, as they are used to big paddling groups coming in right off the water (you should have at least dunked yourself or swam toward the end of the paddle so you don't stink up the...
Read moreSo my family got there and we just sat ourselves down because we went through the garage doors and tons of people already in there we found a table and two other tables sat down too at the same time. We waited 20 minutes for a server to finally notice us and the other people too. We already knew what we wanted so we told her and she took our order plus she got us our drinks that took 10 minutes to get to us! My mom went to salad bar and she told me there was like nothing in there and it was gross to look at. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food to finally come and she didn’t even check up on us while we were waiting for our food to come and once it finally came my siblings got there food and my mom and I got fish and we wanted battered fried and she came out with broiled fish and so she took it back and she even wrote down battered fried and that took another 15 minutes for my mom and I to wait for our food and when it came out it our fish was burnt and she still didn’t check up on us if our food was good or not. Very poor service....
Read moreFirst of all, a great ride on a bike to get here. Picture perfect and beautiful through the back roads of Wisconsin from the Illinois border. You arrive here and you pay your 14 bucks on a Sunday to receive a chicken dinner. The chicken dinner consists of a half of a chicken baked beans and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was very good along with the baked beans. The chicken was good, but not excellent. It was very salty. I under stand were in Wisconsin And it could be used for a salt lick for deer when it comes hunting season.
I’d like the atmosphere and the service better than the chicken. The service is great. Bartender is nice friendly got the job done. Atmosphere is pretty cool. Eat inside, eat outside, or underneath a covered porch. FYI, reception is terrible so don’t expect to use your phone unless you use the Wi-Fi inside the bar.
I would definitely come here again for the atmosphere the beer and the ride. Definitely would try something else. I imagine the burgers here are pretty good, next...
