We were there with our extended family 10-12 people, the service was okay first round of fish was perfect, second round was undercooked. A few weeks later had our son pick up a fish dinner to bring to work for my wife and she said the fish was raw inside. we called the DVSR asked to speak with owner, we were told the owner wouldn't be in until monday, so we asked to speak to the manager. we explained the matter and were told that it was "hard to believe" we were then told to bring the food back. We said that we would have to go to my wife's work in another town. pick the food up then drive all the way back to them, he then said to send a picture of the food and he would "get back to us" and that it wouldn't be tonight. Okay fine we sent a picture with notification when it was opened. it was not opened until late the next evening, never heard another peep from them. We live in the area, and know who the owner is, why he would tell us that the "owner" wouldn't be in until monday, further shows that they do not stand behind their food! If your lookingfor a good fish fry don't go here! Go to ontario or...

First time stopping in for dinner with some friends and we had a wonderful time. We were greeted by Rick, the owner, who was especially gracious and talked to us about the history of the schoolhouse and restaurant. A very interesting story to say the least. I had the hamburger steak with american fries and a garden salad. The salad (iceberg lettuce) tasted fresh with juicy tomatoes, onions and crisp cucumbers. The hamburger was cooked perfectly, juicy and very flavorful. I would have preferred the onions cooked a bit more but were tasty. The mushrooms were few. Several of the american fries seemed to been on the grill too long as they developed a hard crust on one side and were difficult to eat. I would have preferred seeing a mashed potato selection. Enjoyed the squash which was a surprise! All in all it was a very pleasant meal with great service by the waitress. Rick was the most excellent host in this cozy remodeled schoolhouse and made the meal an event. We'll be back for sure to try the pie and some of the...

I don’t typically leave reviews, but this place deserves it!

We were just stopping by for breakfast after a music festival at Driftless Music Gardens nearby. It was so much more than a delicious breakfast. We were greeted by two baby goats roaming around looking for cuddles!

After the affordable and delicious breakfast we went back out to find out there were all sorts of animals looking for pets, including Llamas! Then I found out there were 800 bee hives on the property and I had to get some honey! The very kind owner Rick opened the shop for us and let us pour our own honey! So much honey and when we tried to pay he said it was his gift to us. We of course paid what we could but the gifts didn’t stop… this man proceeded to give us fresh veggies, eggs, and a tour, all while explaining the importance of helping each other as much as possible.

I haven’t witnessed this kind of generosity in a very long time. And it was so lovely!

I couldn’t recommend this place more! Will most...

Sept 2024 - back a year later and Rick and team were awesome again serving our large car club with ease. Fantastic burgers and soups, excellent grilled ham and cheese too! šŸ˜‹ Sept 2023 - Beautiful building, great atmosphere, amazing staff for our large car club. Food was very good, although my pulled pork was a bit fatty, but all others raved of their sandwiches. Chili was also excellent! Be sure to visit their gift shop around back!
