Rachel's Roadside Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Wittenberg

The service has really dropped off over the years. My family has been coming here for 20 years on our way to Green Bay. It used to be quick, easy and inexpensive. Tonight we waited for over an hour to get our food. Our waitress disappeared only to come back and say sorry I didn’t tell you about the wait. As you expand and get bigger as Rachel’s did you must expand your staff and reset expectations for what great service looks like. It’s clear ownership has not done this. You can’t do the same things over and over and expect the same results. It’s the definition of insanity.

I would have deleted my review with a proper response. But wow did I not get that. I got an owner that got defensive. Saying obviously you don’t know know how to wait on people, or that you’ve only only been open for 18 years when I said 20… I have some advice. Read the book extreme ownership. Take ownership of what happened. Don’t blame the person making a review. This is so poor. I mean so poor that you as an owner would respond this way. I would HAVE deleted the review. I think it’s terrific that you opened a dive bar and had success. I work RETAIL!! I get it. I truly do. But for you to respond this way is absolutely astonishing. I cannot believe how you responded. This is Hands Down MY Favorite place in Wittenberg!!! And I'm NOT just saying this because I grew up with the bar owners........I'm saying this outta pure enjoyment if the food, service and atmosphere. Rachel has come a Looooong way from where she started 20 years ago! With the help of Her beloved Bill...they have transformed this business into THE Go-to spot in ALL of Central Wisconsin! You Absolutely need to come check this place out. And remember to call ahead with your order or make a reservation if you plan to come here during Peak Business hours because if you don't and the place is packed with people, your food is gonna take ALOT Slinger to be served to you! Yes, Seriously and Honestly......THAT is how busy this business gets during "normal" meal times. My suggestion is you come here mid afternoon for a late lunch or an early dinner. My kids and I ate here tonight. Pulling in, the parking lot was full so I already knew it would be a wait. We got a table right away and was told food was an hour 1/2 wait. We ordered apps that came pretty quick. The fry bread and beer cheese was 🤌🏽. As we waited about an hour for the food my kids became quite impatient, however the server was amazing and refilled drinks and even gave my kids a couple dollars to play the claw machine. We ended up taking our food to go. I had the lobster tacos and they were great! My son had told the server it was my birthday and they came out with funnel cake fries with a lit candle.
