I order the bread and biscotti online. I really like the bread especially the cinnamon raisin and rye. But my favorites are the biscotti. The lemon ginger is excellent but the anise almond is a close second. I tend to order the variety pack. Yummy!

Trappist Monks of the Abbey of the Genesee located in Piffard, NY make many varieties of delicious bread, cheese crackers, and biscotti as part of their upkeep. Items are available either at the Abbey gift shop or online.

So much fun. Sat with the brothers in chapel, visited the store and purchased many unique items. Many types of bread and other treats. A must see if you are in the area.

I've seen the Monks' bread in the stores for years, but thought it was just a clever name until a few years ago when a friend explained it is actually made by monks at an abbey in Genesee County. My response: "We have an abbey in Genesee County?"

When a friend from Florida was visiting me recently, we decided to go check out the abbey & see what it was all about. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. No photos are allowed indoors, but it's equally peaceful inside.

The store itself is quite small, but the variety of products is really impressive. I love the raisin bread best, so picked up a loaf of that for a little less than what you would pay in the stores. I also bought some of their dark chocolate chip biscotti. (You can tell the monks made it too - it's so delicious you can almost taste the Holy Spirit!) I have two of their fruit & nut bars in my pantry, but haven't tasted them yet.

The store also sells fruitcake,...

Grew up in the 80's and 90's eating Monk's Bread. So then I was excited to share it with my kids recently, only to find out the hard way that they put soy protein concentrate--a cheap filler--imto the recipe. I say "hard way" because my daughter is intolerant to it. It never would have crossed my mind that they would have added this animal feed of an additive to their previously high-quality bread. I guess money...

If you haven't tried the production from the Monks Bakers, you absolutely must give them a try!! I've been ordering from them for about two years and it's absolutely a favorite! The Holiday and Rolled Oats breads are my favorite. Their jams are wonderful too!! They offer bundle gift boxes, great for sending friends and family. Try them! If you have questions, they are very...
