Wow! I mean, if you just drive by and think …”maybe we should try something else -that’s just a hole…”well, you’re not exactly wrong but you will be missing out on some of the Best Mexican food in the region! We eat Mexican A LOT and this was one of the best Mexican restaurants we’ve ever visited. I was thinking, can the reviews really be that accurate? Heck yeah! The staff was so friendly and helpful and our meal came out fairly quickly. The chips and salsa were so fresh and it was hard not to fill up on them! The sweet tea was delicious and I don’t know if it’s a Tracy City spring water thing or I was just thirsty from hiking but the water was super cold and refreshing! We had the fajitas Texanas and the chicken, steak and shrimp were all a good portion and grilled to perfection! We will absolutely make this our post hike go to wherever we come back to the area! We may even have to make the drive from Murfreesboro just to be able to eat here again!

Mexican is more than just “another food” it’s a cuisine unmatched, but only if you put real love, and real ingredients (along with knowledge ;)…do you get the best results. So if I give a Mexican restaurant more than 3 stars, rest assured it’s very good. We have been to the La Ranchera MANY times, only lived around Tracy city area for maybe 6 months tops and had Mexican at the La Ranchera at least 20 times ! I have had a lot of dishes, some challenging, others just based on cravings, but no matter what they pull up. Friendly and good service, definitely a homie but still authentic atmosphere, but the food is what tops it, definitely the best Mexican around, I’ve been to every Mexican restraunt in Tullahoma, and I’d drive to La Ranchera every time. Now the prices are about the same as most, but you feel good about it once you taste the fresh and exquisite taste. Much love La Ranchera, and see you soon 💥

The name was a bit confusing as we see "La Ranchera" in most places online but the receipt prints as "El Maquey". Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - ordered a Guadalajara (one chicken burrito and one chicken enchilada) and their special on the board of Fajitas Portobello. The chicken in the burrito was quite dry and the whole dish was flavored only by the red sauce. Their special was quite good though as the protein was flavorful and the cheese and portobello was absolutely delicious! Service: 5/5 - quick service and to the point. There was a bit of a language difficulty though. Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go. The entry way of the restaurant was very crowded and there were quite a few times were customers bumped each other as they turned the corner. Value for price: 4/5 - food quality differed quite heavily depending on the item. Would do fajita again, wouldn't touch the chicken though!
