Had been working hard in the heat for most of the day as I travel for work. My last job was in Tremont so I was looking forward to going to Jacks. I had not eaten all day. Upon arrival I used the bathroom first. Came back out and stood for my turn to be seated. A young lady and a gentleman stood at the podium, luckily after some time the gentleman noticed that I would like a seat.
I quickly placed an order for water, a side salad with ranch and a grilled chicken sandwich. The water and salad came quickly but the ranch dressing offered was not adequate. So, I stopped eating the salad and waited for someone to ask me if I needed anything. I was seated at the very fist table as you walk in, immediately next to staff members. I made eye contact with each person in there. Each person ignored me, not a just a mild ignore but blatantly ignored me. I considered just going to the back and finding the ranch dressing myself. I then got my own to go box for the salad, my sandwich was bagged for me and I went home to get my own ranch dressing to go with my now lukewarm chicken sandwich. As by this point I could see that eating at Jacks was not going to be enjoyable.
In the future, if someone isn't eating the food they were brought, they might need something. Table Service 101.
This is the second time I've dined alone at Jacks. Each time they look at me like I have 3 heads because I'm dining alone. When I come with my husband-we don't get ignored-we actually get service. I think it just throws people that I'm eating alone in a restaurant. I'm eating alone because I've been working-my husband is at work building tractors & it's not practical to go get him from East Peoria to bring him to Jacks in Tremont so that I can actually get...
Read moreThis place is a hidden little gem if you don't know it's there. We had the catfish and the soup was homemade. The two waitresses we're very knowledgeable on the menu it came down to where they couldn't decide who was trying to take our table so they kind of both helped. The catfish special had two pieces and it also comes with what I call special bread and the price was more than acceptable for the quality of the food I would return here and try other things and would put it as a locally-owned non chain restaurant in a small town that hires local people and Cooks the food prepared to order. The place was also noticeably clean from where we were and you could definitely tell it was safe and comfortable for those who shy away from places that they are unfamiliar with. So if you're on the interstate with your kids or family no worries here. There is also a convenience store nearby to make it a no brainer if you're needing fuel or something else as you enjoy-a great meal whether it be breakfast lunch or dinner I don't think you can go wrong with this place. Thank you for viewing my opinion of Jack's Cafe. Remember my opinion is worth as much as you paid for it but at least it is...
Read moreCalled ahead to reserve a table big enough for 20 for our senior group from church to have lunch. The lady on the phone was very nice and said it wouldnât be a problem. When I arrived (about 15 min early) I was âgreetedâ by the âbossâ who was very rude and kept demanding to know how many were coming. I said I called for 20 and that is usually how many show up. (We are pretty casual so I donât always know but usually have 20) He made us stand at the door until just after 11:30am to see how many would arrive. We had 15 at that point so he seated us and told me that was all he was seating us for. Shortly after we were seated guess what 4 more showed up so I had 19. I just donât understand why he had to continually be rude to our group and we ended up with how many I originally requested seating for (1 left worried we wouldnât have enough room). The waitstaff was great and the food was good. We have done this one other time with no problem but very disappointed this time with how we were treated...
