Service was meh. Food was meh. I ordered the Tri Tip Sandwich. Fries were really bland. That was the most meh tri tip I've ever had. This was one of those small town places that I never thought I'd end up at. I'm not from this area. I'm from the west SFV and I was passing through with a friend heading up north. Soon as we walked through the door we sat at the bar because there was no tables. Walking to take a seat there I could feel the stares. We were speaking Spanish the whole time there and I'm actually surprised nobody told us to leave. They certainly looked like they were wanting to tell us to leave lol. I'm guessing by other reviews that this might be the most exciting dining experience this area has to offer. I'm certainly not wanting to put this place down. But I just didn't find it good at all. It wasn't bad. It just...
Read moreThis place was abysmal. It’s very clear that this restaurant has a group of regular customers that have probably been coming here for decades and those customers, I’m sure, receive excellent service. Our first time here, we were ignored. After 15 minutes, we had to flag someone down to even place an order.
Restaurant was not particularly busy, plenty of staff working. Once our order was placed, we waited 30min with no refills. After 35 a hostess brought us a bill and said “no rush”…we said “we haven’t even gotten our food yet!” After another 10 minutes we left cash for our drinks and left hungry.
The place is also very openly conservative, Fox News playing on the TV. I am not particularly fond of businesses being openly religious or political, no matter what side they’re on so I’m...
Read moreSalles Café is one of those places that just feels like home. Every time I come in, I’m greeted with a smile and treated like family. The food is consistently great — the French toast is crispy and delicious, the home fries are perfectly seasoned, and the chicken fried steak is legit comfort food.
What makes this place stand out even more is the touch of Portuguese flavor on the menu — something you don’t see every day in Tulare. It gives the café its own unique vibe.
The place has an old-school diner feel that I love, and the staff really go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. Whether you’re meeting a friend for breakfast or grabbing a bite solo, Salles never disappoints.
Highly recommend stopping by if you haven’t already. It's a true local favorite...
