I visited this place a few weeks ago and the experience is something I'll definitely never forget.
I was staying in Tularosa and was looking for somewhere open for lunch, I found this place that advertised Mexican food.
Maybe it was my mistake for thinking it would be real Mexican food. The menu left a lot to be desired: very poor variety and few truly Mexican dishes.
So I decided to order a tea, which tasted like water flavored with a soaked dry stick, the worst drink I've ever had. And then I ordered some "Kids Nachos" They took about 40-50 minutes to get to my table When they arrived, I was expecting at least something appetizing, I appreciate that the toast was a natural tortilla, but frankly it was not good, the melted cheese was not nacho cheese, it was a curdled cheese mix that tasted like a cheap bagged cheese mix. The beans were fine, but nothing more. And they were ground beans and not whole, a characteristic of nachos. Surprising the portion was large for being for kids,
Overall, the taste was, frankly, the worst nachos I've ever had in my life. Because of the price and my hunger, I had to eat them. To get rid of the taste, I had to use the aforementioned tea, that next to it, now tasted like the best drink.
And at night I had a stomach ache, I don't know if it was because of disgust or because of the amount of cheap cheese.
Also, the smell in the place was strange.
But, the people I came with tried burgers and said that tasted good, maybe it was just my experience with...
Read moreMy husband and I have enjoyed eating at Casa De Suenos since 2005. That ended on Sunday Nov. 7th, 2021. When we entered the restaurant, the man that owned it and the other help we have seen were not there. The two people we did encounter were not wearing masks (New Mexico is still under a mask mandate for Covid-19) like the owner and his staff always wore. The two people we encountered seemed to be very unfriendly and didn't care about their jobs. The food was cold when it was served. We were told that if we wanted chips and salsa, we would have to pay $7.95 to get them. When we left only one other couple was in the restaurant. My husband and I had indigestion and felt bad the rest of the day and into Monday when we both had violent diarrhea. That never happened when the man that owned it for so long was present as he always was there when we went. I am wondering if the restaurant has sold. If not. I hope the owner and his staff are not suffering from Covid-19. After our latest meal there, we won't stop again. There weren't but a few cars when we came through Tularosa after one and one-half hours later on the way back home. When they were open and, especially during lunch and dinner, they were always very busy. We always had great food and service there. We are very sad that Sunday's experience and the food was not as it...
Read moreProbably the most disappointing dining experience I have ever had. We took a group of 13 people there for a celebration dinner. First, we were seated in a add-on room outside the main restaurant. This room appeared to not have been cleaned in a very long time. The tables they set up for us were a mixture of whatever they had around and looked run down. The lighting was very limited and we needed lights from our phones to finish eating. When the silverware was brought out, they were just placed in piles on the table instead of on napkins to protect us from the dingy tables. The whole room had the ambiance of an outdoor shed. Second, my wife and I ordered sirloin steak. Without a doubt, the worst steaks I have ever seen. Tough, full of gristle and fat, they were uneatable. I was able to take a couple of bites, but had to spit them out. The potatoes were so over cooked , I could not cut them with a steak knife. We had the server take the meals away and complained to the manager. She said there would be an adjustment to the bill, but when we received it, they charged us for both dinners. I cannot speak to how the Mexican food tasted, but if you want a good steak in a pleasant atmosphere, steer clear of...
